This is my opinion.

First, it's stupid to harm any animals in a state park.

Second, where was the supervision of these kids using paintball markers? The way I understand it they got them from the park facilities, not 100% sure.

Third, I think this puts a negative view on paintball that it doesn't need.

Fourth, It's just wrong to shoot any baby animal unless it's for survival.

Fifth, Why did this ever go to court? This kids should of had their tails busted, on restriction and made to learn how to treat wildlife and the proper use of markers.

Sixth, As I was growing up we didn't have paintball markers until my late teens, we had BB guns, .22s. How many of us killed squires, birds, snakes, and many of the other woodland creatures? I killed a Bird as a child with my BB gun and felt very guilty. I never did it again and I even gave it a burial. I didn't get arrest or any like that.

I think this has been blown out of proportion as many things now a day. I agree it was wrong and there should be consequences for their actions, but it should have never went to court and it's defiantly not something news worthy.

Today people are to political correct and sue happy. To many people are sticking their noses in places it doesn't below and forcing the courts to handle issues that would be better handled at home or man to man. Sorry or woman to woman.

I hear you. I had a BB gun and wish I hadn't.

I guess that is the thing isnt it. Some of us have to learn the truley valuable lessons the hard way.

Well the punishment seems about right. Kids. We've all done dumb things that we wish we hadnt.

yeah i popped an armadillo with a crosman pump pellet gun when i was 12. he didn't die instantly as i had planned. since then, i have never intentionally killed anything bigger than a roach... and i still never kill spiders unless they get the drop on me and startle me. (i like spiders.)

i'm not an animal rights activist or anything- i just choose not to kill stuff... i'd kill a person though... in a heartbeat.

those kids are young and dumb, and i bet they've learned a POWERFUL lesson. i know i did, and i didn't even get in any trouble.
