Tippmann Acquires Atomic Ordnance.

Tippmann Sports Acquires Atomic Ordnance Paintball Grenade Business - "Big Boy" paintball grenades a perfect fit under Tippmann name
8/1/2007

BUFFALO GROVE, IL - August 1, 2007 - Tippmann Sports, the world-leading manufacturer of high performance paintball markers and related accessories, has purchased the paintball grenade business of Atomic Ordnance, manufacturer of the popular Big Boy, Booby Bomb and Pod Rockets grenades. Under terms of the deal, which was finalized on July 31, 2007, Tippmann assumes ownership of Atomic's brands, product designs, patents, existing grenade inventory and equipment related to the manufacturing of the grenades. Financial details were not disclosed. However, it was announced that Atomic Ordnance owner, Duane Bell, would become a Tippmann advisor.

"This is certainly an exciting development for Tippmann," said Howard Kosick, President and CEO for Tippmann Sports. "We've enhanced our product offering and expanded our growth potential by adding another industry-leading brand and product to the company's portfolio. This deal just makes sense because Tippmann and Atomic complement each other so well in terms of products and marketplace position."

Tippmann plans to add the Atomic grenades to its expanding line of accessories, where they will fit well with the company's existing Squadbuster grenade. The Squadbuster will continue to be sold in a clam package while the Big Boy, Booby Bomb and Pod Rockets will be transitioned to the Tippmann brand and sold in bulk and multi-box packages.

The Big Boy grenade has earned a tremendous reputation for reliability since its introduction in 2004. Woodsball and scenario players alike from around the globe rely on the Big Boy to eliminate the enemy when it's difficult to reach them with a marker alone. The patent-pending design is highly effective and the grenades come in several colors.

"I'd like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Atomic for the past 3 years," Bell added. "Plus, I'd like to ask for your continued loyalty to both Atomic and Tippmann Sports. Tippmann is committed to creating innovative, well designed and dependable products and they have an extremely solid track record in the industry. I'm confident they're the right company to carry on the proud Atomic tradition."

Inventory has already been moved to Tippmann's plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana and all future orders will ship from there. For additional information or to place a grenade order, please call 1-800-533-4831. Additional details about Tippmann Sports can be obtained on the Internet at Tippmann.

Duane Bell and Atomic Ordnance will continue to make and sell custom t-shirts and banners, as they always have.

For more than 20 years, Tippmann Sports has been dedicated to quality manufacturing and the pursuit of cutting-edge technology and design. The company serves the growing paintball and airsoft industries from its corporate headquarters and manufacturing facilities in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Tippmann Sports' complete line of paintball markers and related accessories can be found at paintball stores and fields as well as mass sporting goods outlets throughout the world.

Cool, maybe they will show Tippmann how to make the Squad Busters work the first time you throw it, instead of when the guy you threw it at, picks it up and tosses it back at you.

IMO:
Tippman was emensely jelious of Atomic Ordinance and the MOUT game Paint Grenade sales...because of the special fill for the Military MOUT game's...Tippman's Squad buster grenade sucks. Thats what im sure was reported by the tippman crew from the FEAR game...everybody was using the AO grenades...and tippman's SB were not able to be used...so like big business always does, eleminate the competition...Introducing the NEW Tippman line of special fill paint grenades....it had to happen and im glad the Atomic Ordinance group is benifitting from this...Hoooo Ra for Kahuna and Cookie Lady...I just hope Tippman dosn't change anything but the name.....we'll see....
