Viper Invitational Cancelled

From Viper:

Viper Invitation Paintball at Blanding - Event Cancelled
Refunds should be completed by September 7th

We had over 120 players on the CTU side that were paid, registered, and eager to go. There was also a large number of Terrorists who were paid and ready to go as well, even with changing commanders in the middle of registration.

The fact that the Keystone Heights VFD had scheduling conflicts and couldn't perform the cleanup and, yesterday, the backup plan fell through, I simply cannot overcome the hurdles thrown in my way, and the budget was too tight to allow me to risk having less than the necessary 300 players. Possible losses there and likely excellerated expenses for cleanup simply make this impossible.

I will be contacting everyone who paid for airfare and will doing whatever I can to make it right and offset any losses.

To all who registered;
Believe me when I say that I am as disappointed as you all are if not moreso. The effort that was going into this was more than has been put into any other event I’ve produced, even those with more than twice the number of players. This would have been the most involved, in-depth paintball scenario I’ve ever heard of. Your response made it clear that I am on the right track with this. There WILL be VIP (Viper Invitational Paintball) events in the future, so stay tuned.

To those who have made it clear that they would have attended with more notice;
I appreciate all of the calls and emails with support and suggestions. You helped to make it clear that there are a large number of scenario players who want this, and are eager for it. As stated above, there will be others, and with more advance notice!

To those who didn’t wish to attend and/or didn’t like the idea and simply stepped aside;
That is entirely your prerogative. However, it is also the prerogative of those who did like it to attend. Thank you for respecting the rights of others to attend whatever events they wish.

And finally….

To those who didn’t like it, and were determined to stop it;
I hope your fellow paintballers appreciate the effort you went through to save them from this. All of the phone calls to others, the emails and postings, and the rumors helped to squash this event and save them from themselves regardless of whether they really wanted to play it or not. Lucky them.

That sucks. That sounded like a great idea. Wish Blanding was closer.

Sorry to hear that. Truthfully I didn't "get it" when you first announced it, but after you explained it to me, it all made sense. Even though I don't see myself going to high end games regularly, I like that somebody is doing that spectrum of the game. Good luck!!

ODX had a group going down. It sucks, but they are still hitting the next one.

I wonder what was up with people trying to kill his game?

Shame, I really enjoyed getting invited [the old ego needs massaging every once and a while ] and if I had not been trying to get a new home built I would have been very tempted to attend.

Sorry it's FUBAR Viper. Good luck with planning your next one and maybe I'll be freeer and can attend that one.

If you are wanting more information on Viper's Inventational cancellation goto the following link to his forum:

Inventational Cancellation Announcement

Anything other then what comes from Viper is purely speculation at this point.

Again I'm sorry to hear of the cancellation and I'm sure there are many players who are disappointed but these things do happan and I'm am sure that Viper will make good to those players as he states. I wish Kerry good luck in his future endeavors and hopefully one of these days I'll get to attend one of his games [I'm real interested in the RTS style game ]. I have played many games against [never on the same side though ] Kerry and Blitzkrieg in the old days of Survival Zone and have always found him an honorable and nice guy to deal with.
