shot timmys, e-spyders, angels, matrixs, shockers and never had the electronics freeze on me once. On trix's i have had the lube freeze on me creating BAD first and second shot drop off, but after the first few shots its fine.

Then again you have to take my location into play, i live in south carolina and the coldest i have played in was probably only like 20ºF

I've seen lots of mechanical guns freeze up too....like when they get low on gas. LOL

When you add electronics to a gun you introduce a number of extra failures that may not be the fault of the manufacturer. Batteries and battery connections are a prime suspect especially if you have no low battery light. What happens when a intermittent power connection happens in the middle of a cycle? Unlike a vcr which sits on a shelf for years without ever being moved the electronics in a marker takes a helicopter style pounding. While my old shocker just keeps grooving, newer cheaper models may each have their own flaws dependent on construction and design.

My experience with consumer electronics (25 years) says ask which model NOT to buy. I'm sure there are some dogs out there. And some beauties. But none will take the abuse my old 98 can and still shoot. I can wash my 98 with the hose and let it dry in the sun. Something you cannot do with any electronic marker. Maintenance and proper care will affect it's longevity or operation. If you're a lazy slob and haven't cleaned your gun since the last game 2 months ago (or ever) don't get an electronic. Buy something that can survive your personal style. If you worry over your hardware and clean it it and pamper it...go for it.

Not quite sure what freezing you're talking about. As far as pnuematic freezing, that could happen to a mechanical also. The difference is that the electronic usually cycles much more rapidly.
As far as the electronic components being reliable, for the most part they all are. You will have exceptions here and there, and even the better manufacturers will have occasional duds.
Like MrWizard said, proper care will determine the length of your marker's life.
