For a first time gun you can not beat a Tippman 98 for dependibility, durability and playability. There are a lot of good upgrades it for down the road and there is no better company to deal with when you have problems. I've seen in the past someone call Tippman, well after a year since they purchased the gun, have a problem (due to abuse) and Tippmen said to ship the gun to the factory and they would fix. Well the guy did and they shipped it back rebuilt and working and all it cost him ways the shipping fees.

I will second Grendel's opinion. I have been involved with paintball since its inception. My son turned 10 this year and you can guess what the first gun I bought him was......Yep, Tippman 98.

Yes Deep has been around for some time now, when we play against him we just shot his cane out from under him. :p

i perfer the spyder as a beggener maker mainly because it bis cheep which is probly better for a newbie. i started with a spyder and it worked with out a single flaw, once you get a new barrel and bolt which is easier to replace ona spyder (the bolt) then you won't need to buy anthing other than paint and air if you plan on playing rec ball

I would recomend a spyder or maybe a spyder clone like a fishy (piranaha) they are a little more complicated and more like higher end markers than tippmanns so its not such a big jump from tippy to timmy
