ive considered this and i think before the power source changes they will first become more efficient. I dont rule the Lazer Option out, But the pain is the thing that keeps the fakes out of paintball, and mr. Joe anyone could just run the field if he got lucky and went big. SO the pain is what adds the realism of combat or whatever it is that makes us want to do it

I like the pain aspect a lot personally... perhaps we could install electronic ground mines and fencelines on the perimeters of the fields and everyone has to wear special collars for an extra SHOCK effect... in the future... I hope that the game does not over-evolve into something that everyone can play... achieving skill in the paintball arts is such a fun goal!!

I vote for more PUMP's = skillstest

Yeah why don't we just go ahead and run around with dog collars on and set the electric fence around the field.

idk, guns will just get faster and faster till they can get so fast. which is almost met. and hoppers will only be able to feed so fast. which is also almost met. only thing i can think of is like lawrence said some kinda of new airforce. that uses less but lasts longer.

You already have diffrent power sources out there, the tippman c4 like 50k shots off a propane bottle, NPS has the Evolt...

http://www.nationalpaintball.com/HTML/pr_evolt.asp

How about improving accuracy?

I trully think accuracy will be the next big step...
Ie.. find a way to use riffled barrels with oblong paintballs... better accuracy

Deep, Brain, Skeeter, (or all the other old timers) Wasn't there a company using football shaped rounds quite some time ago, or was it just pipe dreams?

the design is there, but honestly, i pray to god nobody every uses one of those things on...ANY type of field, if they were to make it look a bit more conventional and not like somthing out of star wars movie, i think it could fly, but at the moment it just looks to be everything that markers are moving toward- small

The laser thing will never happen. Accuracy won't change drastically either. THink about it, part of the game is being able to lob the ball and make it bust on a person. Bounces are a part of the game, and lasers would take that away. The accuracy thing will never happen because of the shape of the paintball, it's round, and not all paintballs are the exact same, so they're going to spin a certain direction and curve.

Also, the C3 idea was a great idea. Now they need to be able to put that kind of gas onto a faster shooting marker (sem-auto) without the thing overheating. And I have no idea what the guy was talking about by the different shaped paintballs...makes no sense...
