Future of Paintball

So here I am stocking up on some paintball gear/parts, etc for future use and it suddenly struck me where Paintball might be headed in the future.

Do you think that the sport will eventually evolve into a super laser type game where there is no need for the mess of paintballs? I realize that laser tag type games exist but what if it advanced to the use of vests with sensors to issue pain? My point being much more advanced?

Feel free to add your thoughts..

paintball...not lazeranything, paintball for the win. The next big step in pb to me would be the way we power our markers. It's litertially the only piece of equipment not to be "advanced" sense 12 grams to constant air. Im not sure what itll be, but probably somthing smaller, holds more/no need for refils ect.. who knows?

Hmmmm...interesting thought but nah. The gear and guns of course will advance and maybe the paintballs a little but that much change and it just wouldn't be paintball anymore.

Yeah I think the next big evolution would be something with power systems. Whether somehow everything goes electronic powered or some new type of gas operating system. But I highly doubt it will be laser type. I mean it's not paintball without the paintballs.

Im with Larry. Right now i think everyone is trying to make their markers shoot faster and more consistent rather than branching out a new type of paintball.
