HELP Etek, mini, or other
I have a friend who is in the market for a new marker this year. He nor i have much knowledge of electros so I was wondering if I could get some input. His First 2 choices are an Etek and a Mini. He has used an 08 etek and loved it, but the looks and hype about the mini has him very interested in one. And honestly I have really never heard anything bad about either. So I would like some input from you about which you believe to be the better marker and why. If you have used both it would be better. Also if you think there is another mid price range marker we should consider please tell us why. All help is much appreciated!

The Etek 2's are getting pretty good reviews right now. They are in the 675-725.00 price range depending on where you get it.

I would suggest the Etek because of reliability ease of maintenance and air efficiency. But if money is an issue you can usually pick up a good used Ego for around $400-$450 for an '06. Just a thought.

I own a Invert Mini, good quality gun for cheap. No need to go out there and spend a whole lot of money on an electro. Haven't had any problems from mine since I've got it and have had it for a little over a year. Just make sure he's got a hopper to keep up with it. LOL

The Mini is a good marker. But it's shortfalls, if any, are:
-some players complain that it's too small for their hands; -unusual configuration make the learning curve for service quite steep; -lack of aftermarket performance upgrades; -not a lot of technical/service info available. We've sold lotto-mo Mini's and they're ass-kicking. The triggers are definitely Foghorn Leghorn! But they go to a certain discriminating player. The ETEK is also an excellent beast. I have to say that I'm a bit biased, as I shoot an ETEK I myself and am a Level One Factory Certified Eclipse Tech. But if there's one thing Shrubby's absolutely correct on, it's the efficiency. My E has a Zick kit, (an almost absolute upgrade), a b'Oranged Spitfire bolt, (don't ask why I chose it over the Cure, we had it in stock and I was curious, orange...), and some cosmetics. A blackout kit and an 06 CCU kit. My gun is Urban E-Star, so I put a matching CCU kit. Not only does it shoot darts, at the IWO game at Bear Claw, I went out with 4 Dye 160's and a full REL-B loader with a full 45/45. I shot it all and had 3K remaining in the tank. My partner, Woody, had a similar experience with his. They just Scrooge the air! And one thing I have to say about Planet Eclipse is that they are monsters for customer service. They care about their product and their customers. Plus Nicky T is a maniac. ![]() The ETEK II has some nice ups to it if you're considering. 2 pc. EGO barrel, updated frame with snatch grip, new milling, 06 style eye covers, and most inmportantly, the board re-mounting from facing to side slot (like a Shocker). Gives more room for RF accessories, etc. But ETEK I's are available at some slick prices. Tell your bud to PM me if he's interested. ![]()

I agree that both are great guns and I have shot both. I own an 07 Mini and use it as my backup...It is for sale if your buddy is interested in a slightly used one.
