Its a mystery

I was thinking, and I honestly don't know why I play paintball. Here are a few reasons which led me to this:

1) Money pit. It consumes most (all) of my money. $90 on a case of paint that can never be used again. Resale value on paintball markers is horrible, so I know I will never get anything close to what I put into it (luckily shockers are one of the better guns as far as resale goes).

2) The rush I got the first few times seems to have disappeared. I don't get that natural "high" which a lot of people use as a reason.

3) I get extremely angry at people. I don't want to go out on the weekend and get all pissed off, that happens enough during the week.

4) Cheating is part of paintball. No matter what anyone says, cheating is accepted in this sport to a certain extent. I know going into a game that people are going to cheat, I expect them to. I don't mind cheating no one see's, because it takes skill believe it or not. People blatantly wiping and not getting called for it is rediculous though.

5) It seems like work. It gets old and boring playing at the same field all the time (yes there are a few fields around here but I can't drive, so I don't really have a choice).

Just something I was pondering...

Personally, I think your missing the big picture. IMO the sport is about getting together with friends and having a good time. It's about enjoying the outdoors and getting away from your everyday problems and living life a little. It's about sportsmanship and you being able to show that you are one when you get your azz kicked on the field.

The sport has absolutely nothing to do with the resale value of your marker and should by no means cause you to get angry every time you step on the field.

IMO, cheating is not accepted in this sport. I have yet to play on a field that did not have a zero tolerance policy for it. However, it is part of the game and I have found in my experience that this mainly happens with nOOBs who have no idea what they are doing or in heavy tournament competition.

I'm assuming you’re into speedball and tournament type play, which brings me to my next point. Why don't you try playing scenario’s a bit more? Go sit out in the woods and gather Intel for your team for about 4 or 5 hours and leave your shocker back at camp. Gain an appreciation from a different perspective.

Get rid of your shocker and go by a pump. This will eliminate your $90 paint fee and eventually it will bring back the "natural high" when you gogg someone with one ball.

You can start by getting rid of that sorry azz signature.

Contrary to what you may think junkie, I generally play themed fields like the one in the pic I posted of me and my brother. I play speedball too, but that field is further away and I don't get there as often. Its the cheating and noobs I get mad at. My friends don't go nearly as often anymore. I am VERY tempted to buy a classic mag, or as you said a pump (phantom). I'll have to think about the pump thing, thanks for throwing that at me and opening that door again(thought about it before).

Man, I get mad too. We've all had those days where nothing goes right. I've blown my lid a few times but always manage to get back to my senses and realize why I'm out here. Most of my hits come after my barrel plug is in or after I screamed to the top of my lungs that "I'm out". It's part of the game and we all know it.

Here's another thought. Go to the field with your camera for a month and take action pics. Post them on pbjunkie so we can see your work.
