I bought my SP1 a few weeks after release. Mine came semi only, however, now they are all coming select fire. The SP1 has a hex bolt right under the trigger frame that allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the trigger. I dialed mine in so that I have a very light trigger pull and have no issues with tossing paint with the best of them without 3 round or full auto. If I wanted to get 3 round and full auto there are two options. Either send it back to SP and they will flash the ROM for you, or you can take it to any PSP tournament and SP will flash the ROM free onsite.
I run a 68/45 HP tank on remote for mine and I am able to feed about 600 rounds before I need to go re-gas so I am looking at getting a larger tank I was getting about 300 to 400 out of my 68/30. As far as feel goes, if you plan on getting the stock for it then also plan on going remote as well. With the collapsable stock on it feels a little odd to also have your tank on the ASA. It will still fit, but it feels weird. |

You've definitely got some good info to go on. If you don't have a local pro shop where you can snag your stuff, let me know. I really don't like hawking stuff on the forums, but we have a pretty large inventory, offer lifetime warranty an are factory certified techs on everything we sell. PM me if you're interested. HR's A-5 was MORE than a monster! It was classified on the ship registry as excess tonnage! ![]() |

Efficiency-wise, I'd suggest an Ion. I have a 68/45 tank that I run with a Palmer's Stabilizer in-line regulator on my remote line.
I own and use both an A-5 and an Ion. Out of the box, my Ion is much lighter and compact. Weight can be an issue during a weekend scenario. Especially if you don't have a sling for the marker. The A-5 starts to burp at the end of a hopper and 4 140-round pods. Seeing as how the X-7 has quite a bit of the A-5 internals, I can't think there'd be much of an improvement in air efficiency. The Ion (after tuning it a bit) can run through my entire field load (hopper and 7 140-round pods) before getting low. I can usually squeeze in another pod or two depending on how close to a true 4500 PSI fill I start with. Tinkering with the regulation of air can turn an already gas-efficient Ion into a marathon runner. A MUST HAVE upgrade is a QEV. Why SP didn't just include one on their stock model is beyond me (Much like my thoughts on their crappy stock feedneck). Such a small, inexpensive part that can increase efficiency so much is a no-brainer. With the A-5, there's only so much you can do without attempting the Low Pressure mod. I researched it a while back and wasn't too impressed with the overall reviews that were given, so I didn't bother with it. I polished the internals, switched to a Stiffi barrel, and tuned my Palmer's Stabilizer to feed it just enough PSI to get the cyclone to work correctly. No matter what you do to tinker...you'll be in the fill line more often with a Tippy. The choice comes down to this: Air Efficiency at the cost of maintenance, or vice versa. Ions need batteries and if the board goes down, you'll be wishing for a mechanical marker like the Tippy. The maintenance on an Ion isn't so bad once you've done it a time or two...but it certainly isn't as rugged as an A-5. A-5's have no need for a fancy-schmancy hopper. Simple plastic is all it needs because of the Cyclone. Ions can run fairly well on a gravity-fed hopper about 50% of your playing time, but really require a force-fed hopper like a Halo to get you through those intense firefights. Again there's a choice to make. Battery-fed loader system, or the Cyclone (no batteries, but requires air to cycle...contributing to the A-5/X-7 being a gas hog) I'll also mention that Cyclones can be brutal on some types of paint. Brittle shells will turn any Cyclone-fed marker into a dripping mass of goo. Either way you decide to go...you'll enjoy your marker. I own both because I enjoy both. |

Did you miss the tactical part? and PMRs are HORRENDOUS ON AIR.
I dont know what it is about the PMR they seem to have a cult following. I have actually had people look me straight in the face and say its one of the most efficient guns out there. You guys are worse then Religious nuts, not matter what people can prove to you its just not true. With a 68/45 on a PMR, you will not Make it through 6 pods and a hopper, you will be Honking half way through the last pod. With a Fusion which you can get much cheaper then a PMR, I can shoot that on a 45/45. Not to say a fusion is tactical. But if you buy an Ion and get 1. a QEV 2. a deadly wind Hollow Point bolt. The ion eff is 2nd only to a Fusion/Timmys or Egos and the like. For 300 you could just build your own ion from scratch. 1. Used Ion T-board $50-60 2. Stock or Cocker Breach $25 3. Firing Can donut $15 4. Qev $20 5. Banjos and assorted screws hoses $20 6. Stock Frame $35 7. Hollow point bolt $50 8. Deadly wind Tac body $90 9. Q lock feedneck $25 10. Regulator $40 11. ASA on/off $25 ok that comes up to more then $300 but these are rough estimations. and you would have a sweet marker that is really efficient and can actually Shoot 30 balls a Second, a PMR can not no matter how hard you try to make it.
