Opening A New Field

This was an idea that I had when I was still in High School and was kind of joking about it, but the more I thought about it the more I wanted to do it. Right now I have a long way to go before I can really get this up and running. Pretty much all I have to go with is research and storing the cash.

Right now I am trying to decide the best location for a field that ment to be a woods ball/scenario type field. It will have some speed ball styled fields but it will mostly be what I stated abouve. Right now I am leaning to setting up somewhere in New England/Up State New York region. If anyone could provide a website that has information regaurding the popularity of paintball in each State of the U.S.

I am also trying to do research on what is all needed to run a field. I know that I will need markers (how many is not really known), paint (what type I dont know), C02 tanks, and masks. I can safely assume that some paper work will need to be print up for all the players to sign for safety reasons. If there are any field owners that could give me tips on how to run things and what things are required. Also if there are any recommended sites for such info, and purchasing equipment that will be needed.

Ya I have found information already and I have been to pbreview.com already. Dont worry. The job I have now is a pretty secure job. I dont plan on leaving until I get this field started.

I would plan on keeping your full time job even after you open the field...Does anyone know of a field owner that is not retired that doesnt work a full time job on top of running a field? If so I have never met one....

I beleave that the only one I know of is Wayne of Waynes World.
Paintball is his full time job. But he has been doing Scenario's since there inception. There are other's who tried it but when you mis manage you money its sure to be a bust.
Investing In a paintball business you usually have to have a paintball store connected to your field. Ive always wanted to start a field myself but never did it. If you take no risks you can't reap the rewards of success.

I dont know how long I am going to stay in my job but I do know that if I do decide to get out before retirement (which I will be 38) it wont be until I am finacially secure and the field is up and runing.

I agree with SirRod's final sentance. It has been my out look on life as well as my motto. I believe life is far too boring if you never take risks. That goes for physical risks, mental risks, and finacial risks.

People that I know, say that I a crazy for trying to do this but I dont think I am. I believe that I am striving for something that is my dream. It is not as fun to dream as it is to strive for it.

I would check with some of the field owners on this site. Most of them are more than happy to help you out and advise you of things to ensure you do and the pitfalls you can run into along the way. Some of the names that come to mind are Skeeter, Brain, LCP (I think that is Billy's name), and Bear Claw Susie (I don't recall her name here).
