Paintball Debated at a Time of War

From the LA Times:

A pastor at a church I visited a few Sundays ago made an announcement to the congregation about the church-sponsored activity coming up: paintball. I see no reason why any church should promote violence, whether real or simulated. Our guys are dying every day to protect this country, and here at home we have church people running around in fatigues, carrying imitation AK-47s, shooting fake blood at their spiritual brothers. What a mockery.

Why don't they join the military and play with real firearms and see what real death is about? We are surrounded by violence every day. We are literally inundated with it. Don't we have enough?

I wonder if she would completely flip out if she knew that a Preacher opened a paintball field...lol... Anyone that reads this post please do not lump all Christians onto a pile with her being a representation of us all....Like many things the ones with the dumbest remarks and comments are the ones that seem to have the loudest voices....

Heh, they aren't the loudest. Some reporter went out and got 30 quotes and picked the 3 most sensational ones he had. Don't blame her, blame the reporter. It's not her fault she's a big party pooper.

I can't stand articles like this. It's so much junk...they don't even have the slightest idea about paintball. Most, if not all, fields don't allow red paint because it could get mixed up with blood. So we all shoot each other with, bright yellow, orange, and blue blood.

There is no violence in paintball. Paintball is a sport, or a hobby, which ever you see it as, it isn't violent. Just because you shoot projectiles does not make it violent. And saying that people carry around look-a-like AK-47's is just...beyond me...she obviously has never seen a game of paintball. There are only a select few markers that actually look like AK-47's and they're usually modded to look like them. Ugh...

BTW, supersoakers are also violent...

Dude, he would obviously shoot an angel.

Once again, an unedicated opinion makes it to the news. Crazy comments like this sell though. The only way to really combat it is to continuously educate people about our sport.

My Fast likes to shoot people!

What a dope. Where I play has tons of church groups come out. It's great recreation. Teaches team work, reliance on your team, safety, and not to mention great exercise. And keeps the youth involved in church activities. They are less likely to stop going to church if they are involved in group activitys at church.

WWJS, what would Jesus shoot? Dont know...

I believe just the opposite happens when people play paintball. I have had this argument, the violence one, with people before. I think more people discover the reality of war through paintball, and it teaches war is a very serious undertaking not to be taken lightly at all. How many times have you heard someone comment after a gog shot, "sure glad that wasn't a real bullett"? Combat isn't like on tv. It kills. Paintball is for fun and enjoyment.
Let's all keep promoting paintball and show the public what a fun, honorable sport it is!!
