Dead man's walks don't happen that often, because they're extremely hard to do. You can't raise your hands over your head, say anything resembling "hit" or "out", and you have to linger on the field while they run the flag. You also have to make sure the ref's don't try to pull you, and when players see you say something, the ref back off, and you still have a band, you're getting shot. The most I've seen recently were dead man's moves, where you act dead for a couple steps, and when they drop their gun, you run like hell to hopefully split the field.

The reason (I believe) for the rule is this: Look at your local field, see all the newbs with rental/cheap gear. how many are eliminated and just walk off the field, w/o barrel plugs, etc? now think, if deadman walks become common place, think of all the extra hits that 10 year old will take while he is panicking and trying to get off the field. Or how many of you will get overshoot because you 'looked' suspicious to the newbs. Now in scenario's on the other hand I encourage them and any other tricks you can use. Just not for regular rec. play, for the reasons above. Now I've used a dead man's walk in scenario games on an impossible mission and got to within 20 feet of my goal, with a loud page behind me 'clapping' coconuts. then I was eliminated with extreme prejudice for the newbs. It's amazing how far you can get when you yell "watch your shots" and 'player coming through'.. ![]() -B |

I think it should be legal, because if you are stupid enough to attempt it then you deserve to get shot. But, if you smart enough when attempting it, it can give great results. The thing about the newbies, though, is that the first thing they do when they get shot isnt really go and put a barrel plug on and hold their gun above their head and walk off the field. They could be easily mistaken for a dead man walking, and in turn be shot about 1000000 times by 20 people. I am partially torn about this one, but I think that the newbies should pay more attention to the safety breifing and follow the rules. So, I believe it should be legal.
