Personally I have never done it, and never will. It is not my style of play.

With that said, I know it is done and I don’t have a problem with it. If I see someone on the opposing team and they are not displaying the classic “out” signs (barrel plug/bag in/on and marker raised) I will give them a double tap. I will not open up on them, but I will make sure they are out.

Bonus balling….. I think that should earn the player a vacation from the field, either for a game, the day, or longer depending on the amount of shots and the situation. There is NO need to light up anyone on purpose. You should shoot only enough to mark them out and no more. I understand that when under stress or when hyped up folks can lose a bit of control, but that is why you should LEARN control.

But I do allow for adrenalin, and do cut some slack when the intent was not to overshoot. This however requires some sort of apology or goodwill gesture. If you have time to overshoot someone, even by accident, you have time to let the other person know you meant no harm.

It’s all about sportsmanship and the spirit of the game.

Very well said. I couldn't agree with you more about overshooting. I have been on the receiving end of an 11 round burst that all connected from 10 feet away. Trust me, I wasn't happy, but I walked off the field and only said, I think the first 9 or 10 were sufficient. The ref was there and didn't do anything about it.
With that said, I had someone get completely upset with me a while back when I snap shot them over a berm (with my Sniper II), dropped back down, popped up to snap shoot again, and since he was still sitting there not moving I popped him again. He started yelling at the ref next to me that I was lighting him up and overshooting him. The ref almost lost control and had to keep from laughing. He told him that he should have called himself out and plugged his gun, then asked him to come over and see what I was shooting. He was with 3 of his friends all shooting electros and I managed to take three of them with my Sniper II. He seemed to calm down a bit when he saw that I couldn't have been "lighting him up." But rather doing my best to hold down three electros from 20 feet with "that old pump gun." I love my Sniper II.....

I think the dead man's walk should be legal mostly because it gives players out of air or paint an option to stay in the game and make a difference. Besdies, it's hard to pull off a dead man's walk and get more than one person. And I don't consider it any cheaper than a tag or bunker tag. I would also get all over someone for walking past an opponent and then lighting them up at close range.

That having been said, I want to point out that I make it plain to the players, especially the new players, that if someone is walking around without their barrel blocker or without their marker over their shoulder, they are still an open target and if they get shot, it's their fault. I've never had a complaint. I also coach new players to shoot someone walking around without a barrel blocker. If you cover all this during safety briefing, players don't mind it at all.

And on the pedestal these words appear:

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains: round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away
.
