check this out....

so we play alot of rec games in between big games here. my team is always looking for other teams to compete with. well we found a group of folks who wanted to play against us. they are an organized team, i wont say any names. i was a little intimidated when i met these guys cause they are all older and looked like they had their stuff together. we went out there back in oct. and won most of the rounds we played against them. so, they had another game last weekend. we went out there and just anihalated them.

everything was cool at the end of the day and we all shook hands and all that. the next day, there was a post on our local forum about how they didnt want to play with us anymore and that some members were leaving their team. later, one of their teamates called me up saying their team had disbanded due to internal conflict.

outside of all this, i was told they did not want to play against us because they did not like us. i was told their captain had a problem with me specifically, smack talking on the field and being disrespectfull. the instance they are reffering to would be when i was standing on the road and had three of their players including their captain in my sights. they would not engage me. i walked right dead into the middle of the road and threw my hands up and exclaimed "yall going to do anything today? theres only one of me!". and another istance where i had taunted them which can be viewed here: Viddler.com - Movie_0001 - Uploaded by havokrooster comments were made such as, "ill be damned if these guys will come back and disrespect us in our own house." and the such.

so basically, their team broke up and we have recruited their quality players into our ranks. a real messy situation. so i ask you, where is the line drawn here? not only for talking smack, but, for the recipient to understand that this is a competitive sport.

I feel taunting players on the field is fine. It is a good stratgy to distract and get your opponent to do things your way. That being said you should keep your taunts to fairly innocent things similar to what you stated you had said. I would not start digging into "serious" smack with people I do not know well or given the out in the open public arena where you could upset someones sensibilities.

In essence it sounds like you embarassed them and some of them were poor sports about it. Some people can take being enbarassed some can not. As long as you were not swearing at them and calling their wives names...etc. I'd not loose any sleep over it. It sounds like they might already had problems before you played them if that little bit of taunting "broke them up".

On field smack talk is where I excell... I keep to paintball skills of the opposition. I have gotten people soooo pissed that they have charged down the field into a barrage of fire from team mates and myself.

I have always kept it as paintball related smack. If someone got uncomfortably close to hitting me for instance, I would say, "What do you think your doing out here? If you can't shoot any better than that, you should throw your gun away and quit!" this whole time I'm hammering their position. They would get pissed and give me an elbow or hopper to hit.
