So I'm building some ProFlex's

because I was rudely introduced to the ASTM bullshit recently and decided to start looking for something new. Anyway, this new set I'm building (orange and clear) for use during photography outings is quickly becoming expensive. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this type of mask but I would like to know why the straps are so expensive?

I also think the chrome mirror lenses are pretty cool looking.. Any suggestions? Too dark, etc? Should I stick with smoke?

What about EPS? What's so special? Does the spectra lenses fit the EPS or regular JT's?

I would suggest having more than one set for bright days use the smoke and so forth. Sorry to hear you having to kick the vents I knew this shit was coming. I was ask myself about the certification rating of my old school vents at a game by one of the refs, so I switched to the EVENTS. I have wondered myself why the JT straps cost so much, maybe they are stitched with gold thread.

EPS frame is just a fancy colored lens frame that fits in the Spectra platform. Spectra lenses fit in Pro Flex, Flex 7 & 8 and ProShield.

I find that the mirror lenses really run along the same line as the smoke.

While I use a Flex 8 for play, I use one of the Empire Cylus Thermal masks in yellow for taking pictures. Definitely had no problem with stray shots when I used it. Extremely easy lens change and not very expensive. It's built on the Vents base. Under $40...

No not really.. I was wearing my old school vents recently and was not permitted on the field due to some ASTM certification mumbo jumbo which we can discuss in another thread.

I'd like this one to focus on the JT's and getting some answers to some questions about them.

Junk I wear 2 different sets of Pro Flex's, because changing the lense is a pain in the ASS. Mirror for daytime and clear for night. They are by far the best I have ever had. Straps are so expensive because dumb asses will pay for them no other reason. There is nothing special about them.

If you can find the powder blue lenses...they work in both bright and low-light conditions.. hard to find though.

Rich I have both Flex 8's and 2 sets of proflex's, I have a blue to clear fade lens in my 8's and they are fine in any light condition. I have a mirror lens in one set of my pro-flex's and the irridescent in the other. What kind of strap are you looking for?

You can pick uo some closeout straps and others at pbwarehouse.net for a reasonable price.

But I know what you are talking about with straps costing too much. I am lloking for a boondock saints strap but am not willing to pay 60 to a 100 bucks to get it...

Thanks for the link. pbwarehouse has some parts I need for my olive green mask I'm building. I'm really looking for an Orange Bubble strap to finish my orange proflex.. I found a couple on the nation but like you they are a tad pricey...
