understood. i think that my teamates are looking for something to solidify and legitimize our team. i am happy with striving for sportsmanship and mvt awards. that will be all the recognition i personally will ever need. i didnt really, as captain, have enough info to answer their questions fully. the way we play, i dont think we need it. we are a self supporting independent team. but the questions and concerns, did however, raise a little curiousity for me. i think these guys are seeing a picture where, hypothetically, we would be sponsored by a manufacturer. they would send us free stuff all the time. send us prototype stuff to test and keep. and in return we would just have to put a banner up at our camp and wear/use some of their stuff. and then you can tell all your buddies that your on a team sponsored by so and so and look real cool. i came here to get the good and bad, from fellow teams experiences, so i can present them to our team and let them make an informed decision. i want to thank you guys for sharing your experiences and information.

our team has a few sponsorships and have gotten rid of a few. The fact is NOTHING is free, there is a price hidden somewhere and in some form. sponsors have helped and hindered in my experiance but if you are serious about it here are a few pointers
1. get your team a long list of awards to show the potential sponsor you are worth there time 2. once you have that, make a good video of your team , playing, awards, bios 3. keep in mind that when asking for a sponsor you need to let them know what you as a team can do for them and not vice versa 4. most important!! make sure your team agrees whole heartedly with the terms and benefits of said sponsor before accepting

thanks guys. we have decided to say screw sponsorship and keep the core values of the game at heart. fun. seems when you delve into the material aspect of the game, it can become more like work. and we all hate work. and our team has a drunk pirate captain. he can only deal with so much responsibility at one time, focusing more on pillage and plunder.

a good idea also, would be for your team to sponsor a certain charity or foundation. say by donating 5% or so of your winnings or sumthing like that. If a big name sponsor like dye or someone sees that you're playin for a cause other than just for urself. they are goin to be more inclined to choose to sponsor you over the other joe schmoe teams. they want to be associated w/ helping people out and doin good things cause it makes them look better than the other companies. plus its a good positive thing to do.
also im pretty sure u have to have like a record of playin and doing well enough to get to wear a companies name. its REALLY hard for a start up team to convience a big company that you're good enough to sponsor. just a couple things to keep in mind. |

we picked up a sponsorship. a company called leapers, inc. they are the parent company to u.t.g., under the gun. they mostly distribute combat shooting gear, but have breached out into the scenario gaming world. they make a kick ass scenario vest and pod pack. im sure youve seen some of their gear on the field. they are a decent sized outfit: Leapers, Inc. - Hunting/Shooting, Sporting Goods and Security Gear
check out their terms. wear utg vests at major events attend 4 events a year display banner provide catalog to those interested send some pix from games be on good behaivior beta test new paintball products and in return we recieved gear. 6 aimpoint scopes -i know, but they are great on the real thing 12 scenario vests 6 ambedextrious foldable foregrips 6 tac lights 6 ranger field bags -very nice 6 paintball pistol thigh holsters 6 tac slings a donated scenario vest or pod pack, to add to the prize pool at all games for the year. this gear is high quality stuff. no cheap plastic junk. seems pretty cool. we will see what else they will help us with as the year unfolds. their rep is really cool.... and generous. ![]() Southern Discomfort East Tennessee Scenario Paintball "Descend into my sights, your fallen walls." -Tom Araya |
