Tank cannon breach help!!!
So sonic donates a brick of a main gun for me to play around with - likely going to end up on my tank - mostly for practice I think. good 2" steel construction, sprinkler valve switch. Muzzle loaded.
I strap up a 16oz on remote w/ max flow reg putting out 150psi and my boy and I start blasting away in the back yard. Im getting around 175' on a 20degree upangle.. Now if I wanted to mount this in a tank, and maybe reload without putting my cheese in the wind, Im going to need some sort of beach in the barrel to access.. Any good pics around on good working tank breach designs?? suggestions?

maybe this will help: YouTube - Paintball Rocket Launcher
im going to try the same principle on ours. or if you wanted to get technical, you can go this route: Double Barrel Semi-Auto Tank Cannon created by DBD's Emeril

Wizard, that's not a bad set up at all. How do you have it plumbed in on the bottom part of the ball valve???
I get the best ideals from you. |

Two ways to do the ball valve mod. In the one shown the ball is cut in half with a pin added in the non handle side to keep it centered. Others I just drill a 1 1/4 inch hole in the barrel facing side of the ball. You have to mod the body by milling out the ball and body a bit. Use sand paper on a 1 1/2 inch pvc with foam. Takes about an hour with a drill. Makes the nerf fix nicely. The inlet pipe is a 3/4" into the body. When the ball is closed to the back the inlet goes into the ball and thru the hole behind the nerf. Carefully drill out the body with a drill just smaller than the threads. Ideally just the size of the pipe minus thread depth. Next tap it with a 3/4" pipe that you've grooved deeply so it will cut the threads. This part you have take your time so the threads cut nice. All told takes about 2 hours to make. I've done 6 of 'em. Oh yeah. One side of the body has a screw out for getting the ball out. put it toward the back. You adjust this to fine tune the tension and seal on the ball cause it will wooble a bit after all the surgery. Lowes has 'em, but home depot does not. Ok the secret on the ball breech is out. See ya on the field!

Hey cool. Thanks for the info. Next go round on tank building I shall have to consider this for building my cannon. The make shift I had in the last tank was next to worthless.
