There is so much wrong in what you posted i could write a book about it, but again... This is leading another one off topic.
There is nothing wrong in what I wrote in my thread...please feel free to put your thoughts in another thread...but what I've posted is most DEFINITELY not wrong.
Won't type another thing in this thread about it but I felt that that statement about me being wrong needed a rebuttal.

I do not know how other business owners feel, but i would NEVER put my employees health care premiums into the hands of the government and rely on it to take care of them, they mean way to much to me and have stuck with me through the great years as well as the slim ones. The least i can offer them is good healthcare.

Back to the original part of the post on Agendas or lack there of in the school system. I believe teaching the good from the bad. I am not saying what one person says is good and another that is bad but the basics. Such as
Not hitting others for no reason

No name calling

Just walk away when someon upsets you.

Do not steal
share things with others.

you know the basics of being a civil human being. Now as for a small related not .. Leave the national anthem alone. the word "GOD" Can be any god and if your athiest you believe in something it just dosent have a name or your agnostic and dont believe in anything or Visa versa so it shouldnt bother you. it has been this way for 400 years leave it alone.

I agree. In the past, much of what you refer to was part of what was called teaching good citizenship.

Since becoming an adult with 3 kids and remembering some of the things I saw others endure in the past, I also believe schools should be very pro-active when it comes to bulling and hazing. I don't see how some of the kids I went to high school with kept from commiting suicide. While I didn't torment them, I didn't run to their aid either.

Some of my kids have been put in the position of either putting up with a bully the teacher refuses to control (in their behalf, it's a lot harder for teachers to do these days) or get in trouble for punching the bully. While I understand & agree with your statement about walking away, when it gets physical, I believe everyone has the right to defend themselves.

In Greenville, SC, the school system has a rule in place that basically says that when 2 people fight both are always at fault & both will be punished--equally most often. Never mind that one of the kids may have simply been defending themselves against a bully. This rule has never been challenged in court & I think would lose if it was. I'm prepared to do just that, but when my kids have punched bullys, as I taught them to do, somehow they didn't get in trouble. So far it's all been good--but the thing is, I have very good kids. Their teachers adore them. So if my kids are catching crap from time to time, most everyone is.

I teach my kids to report REAL verbal abuse, but to otherwise ignore it. I then tell them if someone lays a hand on you, don't just get away--make them sorry they even thought about it. Then there's the line I've told them that they can use. Basically, it goes like this: "My dads a nice guy & tries to get along with everybody. You should know that he loves me very much and has told me to give people who bother me this warning, which simply is this--if the school system doesn't handle you, he'll find a way to do it himself, including paying a not-so-pleasant visit to your house".

^ I know what you mean. I was the odd kid.. you know wore black Liked star wars stuff like that. So even though I was a very good wrestler I was still picked on. But I had brains on my side. 1 we have the same situation if 2 people fight it dosent matter who gets in trouble. But I also know that school guidelines cant overrules state law. So here is a example.

after days of some kid calling me faggot and so on and so forth I simply tell him that He must really love faggots and should come give me a kiss just like his sister did the night before. "obviously that made him mad so he comes rushing at me in a aggressive manner.
well he had a little lesson in physics and pain. with out throwing a single punch our hispanic friend was unconcious. and the administrators were called.
I clearly defended myself because I was in fear for my well being. I told the principle that I was attacked because of a true statement (I infact had kissed his sister before) that was made and i had to right to make that statement. I also told the principle that I had broken no law and weather he sees what happend as a fight or not I will have him brought up on charges of harrassment if he suspended me. Now he did infact suspend me but when a phone call from a local attourney at law told him what he could face if my school work suffered from this false suspension he promptly reinstated me.

I tell you this is because. If there is a bully tell your kids you will stand behind them if they do the right thing. the right thing is to defend yourself period. Just remember that all they have to state is that they were in fear of there physical well being. If the bully is only calling them names tell them not to even talk back because that will eventully bait them into pushing and that is when they attack. I taught this to my nephew. the bully is usally unsuspecting of the gouge to the eyes when he is running at you.

Check out the two video clips here

related to the clip above...
It would have been interesting classroom discussion with the children to discuss the government's responsibility for educating elementary school children in deviant sexual behavior without parental consent and without parental mediation.

wow...i mean wow...wtf
i dont even know how o begin here.
though i am of the opinion that it is thier life style and not judgemental about it i would have an issue with this being presented to my children in the manner that made my children think that it is natural to be in a same sex relationship at that age.
i would understand the teaching of not bashing people that have differnt ideas or beliefs but this crosses a line.

wtf

wtf

what i have read i this thread is another example of how things in posts get confused.... stick to the topic of the thread. voice an opinion of the topic, but stay on that topic

So how does the government get so much leaway in what is taught in our public schools? (and why am I forced to fund this?) Why cant the public school system stick with reading, writing and arithmetic and leave parenting to the parents?
