US Intel: al-Qaida May Move Outside Iraq

I guess I am still bitter on how I was treated on PBJUNKIE for stating the obvious.

he wasn't treated in any way worth noting. he simply started an argument about US forces working together with one Muslim Sect or Tribe in iraq, and that particular Muslim group was using brutal tactics (not approved by the rules of engagement) against enemy combatants.

he found ZERO support here, got all butt-hurt about it, then shifted the topic to pakistani cooperation, or lack thereof. nobody to my knowledge disagreed with him about pakistan. i know i didn't, specifically saying, "i don't know enough about it to make an informed opinion."

good link Ragtop.... very interesting report. its not NEW, but it is interesting.

its really too bad you felt the need to make such a childish remark.

No my point was WE CAN NOT WIN IN IRAQ. Iran won the day we removed Saddam from power. Five years or less Iran will start helping Iraq build "civilian" nuclear power plants, you can bet on it.

Iran is already calling the shots with us there! When we capture Iranian "energy consultants" the Iraqi and Iranian governments TELLS US to release them and they are released!

I also pointed out how Bush cut-and-run from fighting the war on Islamic terrorist who had moved there HQ to Pakistan where they had already had a relationship with the Pakistan military that is Mursharraf's only means of keeping power in the country....a point Bush neglected to tell the American people when he wanted to start the BP/Halliburton War.

If we had pursued Osama into Pakistan from Afghanistan, we could of 1)restored their democratic government 2)put a military with terrorist ties on ice 3) captured rogue nuclear scientists who were selling technology to Iran and North Korea 4) and maybe even have brought the people responsible for 9/11 to justice!

Gimpy, here are some key points given out in the article by the Director of National Intelligence:

Terrorists use the "sanctuary" of Pakistan's border area to "maintain a cadre of skilled lieutenants capable of directing the organization's operations around the world," he said.

Hmm....around the world....like in Iraq? Seems like someone before was wondering why we are not attacking Al Qeada's command and control......who was that?

U.S. officials have said they believe that bin Laden is taking refuge in the region, likely on the Pakistani side of the border.

Now who was that person who mentioned this before......

Despite the Pakistani cooperation, Lt. Gen. Michael Maples, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, said at the same hearing that the Pakistani military has been unable to disrupt or damage al-Qaida terrorists operating in the tribal border region. And the U.S. military is prohibited by Pakistan from pursuing Taliban and al-Qaida fighters that cross the border to conduct attacks inside Afghanistan.

And again, if Mursharraf is so afraid of these terrorists, why doesn't he allow us to take care of the problem for him?

again- nobody debated you about pakistan. we simply said the war in iraq was justified, which you disagreed with. YOU and YOU ALONE shifted the original topic IRAQ to the situation involving Musharraf and pakistan.

if memory serves me correctly it was a video clip about US marines and soldiers cooperating with Sunnis maybe... or shiites or something. you were outraged. we all loved it. you felt ganged up on, and changed your focus to pakistan.

good find. congrats. when do you expect to receive your trophy??

Oh that video.......here is a link to an editorial written by former officers of the 82nd Airborne after serving 15 months in Iraq.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/19/op...9jayamaha.html

Again, our "victory" in Iraq is now based on funding and equipping Sunni militia groups that our GOOD BUDDY al-Maliki says will have NO FUTURE in Iraq.

We are in a civil war were we REALLY don't have political/social connections with either side. It is like juggling hand grenades.

Who is making those political/social connections? Let's see.... we have captured Iranian energy consultants in both southern and northern Iraq and commerce over the Iran/Iraq border is at an all time high. Why? Wonder how much commerce was going over the border during Saddam's time?

So you are saying the president made the correct call abandoning the pursuit of Al Qeada into Pakistan whose military has supported it in the past, a country with nuclear weapons, a country that was in league with North Korea and Iran.......

and instead attacking Iraq which was not even a "growing" threat to the United States and opening the door to Iran to walk in?

And if I believe otherwise, please explain to me how that is "bashing the troops" which I was accused of?
