Allright guys, I was sitting at my desk daydreaming when I came up with a ridiculously perfect paintball product design. I am looking into getting it patented right now, but what I want to know is:
Any advice on getting a patent? What would I do after I get the patent? Who would I contact about developing the product? How would I go about the develpment process? The product is very simple in nature and it will also be very easy and fairly inexpensive to produce. Thats all I'm saying for now ![]()

I am working a paintball company who are playing with a marker design of mine. All I did was get in touch with the company and laid the groundwork to get them interested.
Technically though you would want both parties to sign a contract before working with each other, that way no one gets screwed. Once you apply for the patent (I understand this is a long and perhaps unnecessarily stupid and cumbersome process at times) I think you can list your product as "patent pending" at that time you can approach a company to discuss it. Which company you choose depends mostly on what type of goods you are wanting to produce really. Once you have found a company that is interested in producing your design it is simply a metter of them either buying the patent (rights) from you for a lump sum. Or they simply pay you royalties for being allowed to use the design. Hope that helps a little |
