so i've got a problem. Im getting a sniper 2, with WGP pump kit. id like to have the CCM kit because from what i understand, they're much smoother, lighter, just over all a better pump. Soooo- i need to know exactly what to buy. Should i buy the entire kit or just their "2k Economy."

tl;dr
i need to know what to buy for a 2k+ cocker body with wgp pump already installed.

Pump Kit CCM New - 2K Black & Black - (eBay item 150193655983 end time Jan-08-08 16:54:56 PST)

They both do the same thing. If wallet fatness is a concern, then go with the econo-kit. If not, get the big boy...

The econo kit just has a cocking rod and a pump rod which may allow it to twist a little when pumping. The deluxe kit has a cocking rod, pump rod and a guide rod to eliminate the twist. Plus it has a aluminum plate on the delrin pump handle which can be replaced with a hitman mod...Hope this helps I only have the deluxe kits on mine...

yeah that helps a lot. how is instillation on them? is it a matter of twisting off the current pump rod (one connected to front block) and screwing the new one back in?

Go ahead and get the good one. You wont regret it, the firmness is what the CCM kit is all about.

You unscrew the current guide rod and pump rod. and put the new one on and screw the rod into the back block. it really is that simple.

Larry talking pump play... who would have thought this day would come?

my advice is a bit different than that above - but Ive got lots of time riding just about every pump kit around - so take it or leave it:

If Santa is bringing you a kit - go for it. I'de ask for the full 2K CCM AT kit w/ 86 degree frame.

On the otherhand, if its your money:
Put you money back in your wallet, or hide it from youself until you know what that new marker needs. From a performace difference 2K stock to CCM eco to CCM delux the difference is very minor. Pumpenstein has some nice reviews comparing all three and if you were starting from scratch, very worth listening to. It doesnt sound like you have ever tried the WGP stock kit - and who knows, you may love it and never even consider changing over.

Pumpenstein

Stock WGP kits can bind up on you... on Sly Barrel Kits .. but thats about the only time I've had a problem with the 2k delrin style. I did have problems with one of the old wooden handled types circa 91-96 as the front edge was pretty sharp.

Other than that, I have found the 2K WGP Delrin kits better in many ways to the CCM stuff. They have a more positive grip than CCM, definitely quieter than the delux, and much easier to install and maintain.

If looks are important, and you are going to get everything in matching anno ($$$) the ccm delux has a few more bits of aluminum showing to play dress up barbie with.

For Speedball : If you are going speedball with this for pump tourneys etc: look to the AT kits. They are way on the pricey side, but a solid value. - But I would get some pump playing time before plunking down $200 for a pump kit to make sure I couldnt live without my uber-gat and the piece of mind it offers. Pump play can be a beast - especially on the speedball course or heavily bunkered fields in mixed play. If going this route: The CCM Series 5 Basic marker is a pretty awesome value that comes with AT -- but I havent seen what you are starting with.

For rec-ball on commercial fields: less is better. make room for the young ones by gearing back. (i.e, limited paint / stock class / etc) -- one look at Carters, PPS stockers, CCM SS25 stockers, and Phantom stockers and you will see this is not a cheap route on the gear side (i.e, you may need those greenbacks handy)

edit: you also asked about the shorter handled CCM economy kit: Im thinking about getting one for my boy John John because he has short arms -- but for a full growed boy the shorty may be a bit too short.

I currently have a gun set-up with each of the CCM kits. The economy kit is a great kit but the full CCM pump kit is still smoother. If you have the extra cash get the better one. You won't regret it.
