Looking to pump

I like to watch a pump player at work. The respect that they get is great. I would like to know the so called playing skill and equipment i need for this type of play. The gun would be the first bet of info. All input will be welcome. Thanks

All my boys are sporting pre98 SniperII's with a definative taste for Belsales Evolution bodies - and always right feed. All are getting tougher to find. Once you drop the pressure, run a heavily ported barrel, and dont hold the pump handle the shots are amazingly quiet. Ball on Ball - anytime, anywhere.

I played tarawa and tobruk both w/ my evo sniperII, a 200 round hopper and carried no spare paint (ever) - and not once did I feel out gunned. Out manned a few times, but never out gunned. (Even went toe to toe with 6-7 Pub Crawlers )

I think I shot like 500 rounds at each game. 600 tops. When we play recball, I can load up my hopper and play 5 games back to back w/o reloading and play all day on one 16oz CO2 fill - easy.

Protocol just picked up a tasty Sterling. They have a few on the walls at PBCharleston. he loves it and says he is selling his sni2's and phantom's. I respect his opinion.

PBC had a great sellection of phantoms - and if you love light weight, they are certainly the way to go. But just like many surfers like light little boards some dig the oldschool lumber.

** For speedball: phantoms, sterlings or carters.

** For woodsball and scenario : oldschool sniper II's dropped to 400psi with palmer reg, c02, belsales or CCM internals and whatever pump kit you like. and get a red dot

** For the woodsball / scenario aficionado: Evolution Sniper II's

** For all of the above : Sterlings or Evolution Sniper II's

Of course, its all personal preference and there is nothing like trying stuff for yourself.

Thumper and I go back and forth on this every time. I'm a phantom fan. I have a sniper II (Thanks Thump) But I still go to the phantom 99% of the time. The phantom is very light and quiet too. The one draw back to thephantom is pump action could be a little more smooth. As far as the rest of the package, practice, practice, practice. Most pump players are incredibly familiar with their guns. This means you know by instinct where your shots will go, because you've taken thousands of shots while aiming. You will also notice on Thumpers marker that there is a scope/red dot sight. a great $30 investment to make your shots count. I have a 30mm red-dot on my phantom. The 3 best parts of playing pump in my opinion are:
1.) a case of paint lasts 2+ months drastically increasing the amount of time you can afford to be on the field.
2.) you will become a remarkable semi/electro player given your reliance on "first shot accuracy"
3.) snap shooting a pump against two guys with intimidators/DM6s and getting both out is the best story you can ever tell!

I'm all in all in agreement with jowiv and thumper...Switching to pump was the greatest decision I ever made and greatly increased my knowledge of the sport in whats really important in scenairo paintball.

If you want to be more tactical BECOME A PUMP PLAYER!

just because you switch to pump doesnt mean your good be awesome and your gonna get respect...try out different pumps see which one you like most...buy it...upgrade it till its the best possible performance and use friendly and then put it to work...paint saving....ummm not necessarily tru...i know many people who can go through a case a day...i've done it myself...im pretty experienced at a pump...iv used a case, pretty much of it i've put near or most of it on a person...plus in rec. shooting in hands and feet dont count also, so thats also true...but becoming a pump will make you a little better the rest is all your potential, i wouldnt say it makes you more "tactical"...i've seen and been someone to bunker someone with a pump...depending on what he means...

I can vouche for the new sterlings. They are high quality, not any higher than a phantom or a well put together sniper. They are just different and happened to be everything ( I ) look for in a pump marker. You are just going to have to try them out for yourself to see which one suits your particular style and needs. Good luck and welcome to the world of pumps.

Yeah, I've known the guys with section 8 a long time now. I play with my phantom on the weekends with them, and take that skill back with me when I play with jackass, and use my Ion. I'll admit I don't like to taalk to people like I know every thing, and you should play only pump, and here is how you can get better. I really am a lame shooter, Thumper will agree with me on that, but I do know tactics. I can look at a situation and tell what the best corse of action is. A lot of that has to do with me playing with a sniper and not being a good shot. I've had to figure out how to get close to them, try and hit them, and figure out a way to get out of there. Really if you can't hit your targets to well on a sat, then when ou go to a scenario, or a match, you will own if you have a good marker. My Sniper 2 isn't working right now, and my phantom is a unibody
