I picked up a pair of hammers from Grendel today - a CCM and Tungsten thing -- both long and heavy... both at leat 30% heavier than the stock FF hammer I had in there.
Prior to swapping, 283, 282, 284
After swapping out to the Tungsten with IVG at same place, and no change on reg or air tank: 296, 290, 288, 293 with a 270 in there somehere (reballs w/ .684 back) The Tungsten hammer also has a lot more metal where it touches the main spring.. actually compessing the main spring equivalent to maybe 1-2 full turns on the IVG.
In conclusion to the experimentation Ive done on this one:
Starting w/ a 99 free flow valve shooting 280fps
1) increase volume of regg'ed air in reg = add 10 fps
or
2) increase volume of regg'ed air behind valve = add 10fps (in other markers Ive see this number reach 30-40fps difference.
do 1 & 2 = add 10 fps, not 20
3) replace w/ heavy hammer = add 10fps
do 2&3 or 1&2&3 = add 20fps
20fps may translate into 50psi...
I kept #2 and dumped ideas #1 & #3
why #3? It had a bit of trouble w/ the lug catching the trigger frame as I tried to time the AT. I didnt see modifying the CCM delrin trigger plate or 86 deg frame lug channel to accodate this test. Why problem with lug on tungstem and not stock FF hammer? beats me.
I think to do this right, the trick may be to start w/ a 2K valve chamber, or drill the 99 valve chamber out to 2k specs.
