Welcome to the side that has seen the light. Fundage is a good reason to start playing pump, but what I really find interesting is that many of the people you see playing with pumps easily have the cash to dump into high end guns but would rather have the challenge that only a pump can provide. If you have any questions feel free to drop me, Grendel, Thumper, Bambuski, Cozie, etc. a line. I think between us you should be able to find someone who has dealt with every issue a Sniper II can provide.

Cool, thanks Freeze. Yeah the guns been great so far. Just want to get the efficency thing checked out. I know I can get alot more out of a 72/45 than 4 1/2 pods lol. But yeah after that I'm prob gonna start upgradning it a little soon. Maybe a CCM kit, and some kind of single finger frame. I thought about custom making a pump grip, I really hate reaching way out there and thought of something along the lines of a very small, maybe 2 finger, vert grip to attatch to the back of the pump grip so its less reach and be easier to stabilize the gun.

There are a lot of simple things you can do to your gun to improve efficiency. Usually inefficiency problems stem form not getting the right match of valve spring to main spring to hammer relationship or you are trying to operated at too low a pressure. In general the higher your operating pressure the higher your efficiency (it's a little more complicated than just that though). Some day I'm going to take the time to do an emperical study to collect the numbers and finally graph out pressure vs. efficiency for a Sniper.
For single trigger 45 style I like the ANS Quickfire frames and internals. The Dye single swing trigger is real nice and if you want to take some time to set up the original WGP potmetal swing frames from the 80s/90s is great for smooth but crisp trigger pulls that surprise you. As to making a custom vertical grip I seen several and tried one (not for me though) most are called "Billy Club" pumps since they take the grip from an night stick and basically just screw it vertical to the pump. If there is anything I can do to help just give me a howler. |

for my main sni2's: Im running 400 PSI off a palmer fatty w/ 12" old style kaner and pot metals and very much digging it. There is a mystical magic to this combination of pressure/volume/barrel length and porting for a pre2k w/ 2" x 0.191" drilled guide rod. For post 2K Ide still hover around 400psi, not drill the guide rod, and feel comfortable dropping a few PSI. (375-400) I disagree w/ the guys running below 350PSI - it offers nothing performance-wise, trashes efficiency, and makes things less stable. I also think 500PSI makes sni2 shoot pretty much like a phantom: nice crisp drop shots - but that aint what a Sniper II is for. Now: a pot metal frame w/ a new-school 2K rounded hammer lug can create a sexy goodness Grendel's ANS could only dream of. CCM/STOCK WGP PUMP: Im leaning towards favoring the 2K Stock WGP Delrin pump handles for when things get hairy. CCM's are a bit noisier, and a bit harder to hold especially when your hands (or handle) get paint on them. I love my CCM pump kits, but I find my self always picking up the marker w/ the stock front parts. Again, these too are getting hard to find. I havent tried the WWA delrin's but theoretically they may hold the answer. ![]() Last edited by thumper; 09-24-2006 at 08:25 AM. |

Yeah I'm gonna put my hands on each one and maybe play a game or 2 with em and see how i like each pump kit. You're right Thumper, the CCM does get a little slick, but it is a very nice smooth pull. Never got to try the WWA yet, haven't seen one in person either.
But yeah I've been told the efficency problem was in the springs. I currently running a CP reg on it and have it maxed out to right before the velocity starts to drop down again. Don't have a guage so not sure of the output. Been running fine, I had problems at Wildfire with distance and drop off, but the paint was really small, or at least the batch I got. It would roll out of my .682 bore insert on my Scepter kit. After I starting using other paint its perfect. But so far the set up is a CP reg, Powerlyte Scepter kit, Dye 2-finger swing frame, WGP pump kit. Not sure of the internals, Rasta said Freeflow, but I haven't taken it apart to look at em yet. Can't tell what kinda bolt, never seen it before. It did come to me pretty dry (no offense Rasta) and it was a real stiff pump, but I lubed it up pretty good and reset a new reg and it was fine. Thanks for the help guys, I'll keep in touch. Hopefully I'll be able to make the PBC game to come play with some other pump players but it all depends on what goes on with this PD stuff. |

I finally got a friend to tinker with it for me. The spring set-up was wrong. no big deal. It does need a new bolt though, any reccomendations?
I did find out the internals. KAPP valve, SST hammer, old Freeflow bolt. I have a new Dye single finger frame coming Friday. Can't wait to play with that. |

Welcome to pump play man!
as for the farting sound... both my sniper2s w/ FreeFlow internals have made that sound. the only way i got rid of it was i lowered my operating pressure down to 250, got the lightest valve spring i could find and found a reasonably light hammer spring. i turned my IVG 3 threads in and it shoots like a dream. it is the most quiet sniper2 at PBC. efficiency isnt bad at all. ill shoot about 400 shots a day and not use more than 1500psi on my 45/45. my springs and reg is finicky tho...i cant play at night w/ it cause i cant get it to chrono under 270 w/o the valve stickin open( but i play at night w/ my phantom anyways) as for regs...the best by far would have to be the ANS genx2...mine is soooo consistant +/- 1 Fps!! on a good day ill shoot the 283 over a chrono 4 or 5 times! pump kits: i def. prefer the stock wgp kits. the CCM kits just seem like too much metal and has a loud "clack-clack" sort of feel IMO... barrels: i use a 689 Ultralight and perfect matchin 688 ultimate chronic and regular chronic 99% of the time. the UL w/ perfect paint match is super quiet, PRECISE & accurate as well as consistant. i also use the Dye pro 45(single finger) frame that you said you got and they are amazing... this is just my 2cents about sniper2s, i hope i helped a little and Deepfreze didnt put me in the list of ppl that can be knowledgable w/ sniper2s but im up there |

Thanks for the info.
The only thing freeflow on my gun is the bolt and its fixing to get replaced. I have the spring set up now really light, I haven't fully set in the reg and IVG yet I'm waiting til I get my new bolt this weekend so I won't have to do it all over again. I'm hoping I won't have that problem you are talking about with not chronoing low enough for night play. Oh well if I do, time to build a night pump lol. |
