AT or NO-AT -- that is the question..

I was browsing around PBNation for a bit and came across PUMPENSTEIN and their video of them rocking some CCM goodness

YouTube - PUMPENSTEIN paintball practice

There was an intersting discussion on there on AutoTriggers (and much more civil than your average heated nation discussion) --

I know a few fellows who in general dont approve of PA snipers.

I've met a few who wouldnt go the AT route.

And Ive met a few who lean towards Stock Class - and think Constant air and hoppers are for sissys.

I dont think this has been covered on Junkie since Ive been posting here and I think its time.

Where do you draw the line? or do you, or should you, and why? Are pump ballers united in some odd universal community and dont need separation w/in the ranks?

(PS: this isnt not a pump vs semi discussion - but more along the lines hinted at above)

I still play pump on occasion, But I play mainly stock class when I do. Though there have been several time while playing with a stock class pump that I wished I had constant air & a feed system that held more than 10 to 15 balls.

As for AT My SC has the feature but I rarely use it due to the inability to make an accurate shot while rapid firing my pump. I guess I prefer accuracy to quantity in this respect.

As for drawing the line I don't think one should be drawn. We as pump players are pretty much in a class by ourselves anyway. Why break it down even further?

Every one of my PmI/sheridan pump markers later called Paranah's had auto-trigger...
I agree with shrub about the inaccuracy of auto-trigger when rapid firing. It only serves to lay down cover for movemant.
I played with my Pmi auto-trigger at blanding aginst simi-auto's. I was the only pump on the field.
I feel that pure pump/12gram is a class all by its self. Then you have the modified class of pump with Constan Air and Auto-trigger...I still have my "rat attack quick change" and played aginst SMG 60's years before simi-auto...
I had the first auto-trigger on the east coast of the US back in the 80's when "Gramp's & Grizzleys" first invinted it...

I guess if got a few thoughts on the matter...

first : major props to the guys willing to walk onto open class fields with the stock class stuff. In my opinion they are in a class by themselves. (and just Nutz) Which tickles one of the other questions I posed -- there is division in pump classes - but yet, unity as well. A paradox, no?

Ive always thought AT was like cheating. It leaves pump play and moves into semi-ish... but Ive always been tempted by the Sterlings amazing rate of fire... dang, another half-answer. And the guys on Pumpenstein look like they are having fun, playing well and decent guys. Props for what they got going there.

I built a PA sniper - just to see if I could... then promptly decided someone else needed it 'cause it werent for me.. but yet I love watching Earl Rock his Lil' Buddy.

On occassion I just jones to break out my Autococker.. eliminating my pureist thing in an instant.

I love reading some of the threads from the pump players across the country and Im always impressed that they sound just like the guys I know - same stories, etc.

-- no summary thought here, just rambling --

Just the fact that their name is PUMPENSTEIN makes them uber-fine-cool in my book. I've seen the AT and thought about upgrading my Sniper to the 85 degree CCM frame kit with the AT. But I've found that the wild Jackal frame I have on there now really is fast as I need. Pumpenstein... I love it!

I had an autotrigger on my Phantom. Never made use of it for the same reason Shrub point out. I see where it can be useful if you need to lay down some cover fire... I just picked up a '92ish sniper with an AT assembly.. Doubt I'll make use of it either.

Personally I like constant air.. I'm too lazy to want to keep track of my shots and changing out the 12 gram... If I were going to a game where it was mainly or all stock-class (which I've never been to), then I'd have no problem considering everyone is at the same disadvantage.

The way I see it.. Pump is Pump.. You pump, you aim, and take your shot. It only takes one shot to eliminate a person.

It takes balls going to a game of semi's and electro's with a pump whether SC or constant air/hoppers period!!
