From what it sounds like, most prefer the sniper two but it is best to try a few and see what I like. Thanks guys.

this is true. you should build yourself a sniper2. then you could have the exact parts you want on it. (that reflex cocker wold make a real nice sniper2...)

Sniper 2 v. Phantom is pretty much like Chevy v. Ford. You can't go wrong with either. It is really personal preference. Also remember that there are tons of other pumps out there. If I were to sit down I could easily, off the top of my head, come up with at least 30 different pumps that are all high end when it comes to quality. Like any other paintball gun, I would recommend getting your hands on as many different ones as you can and make up your own mind.
If you are looking for more detailed advice then you should let us know what you are looking for in your pump. Is weight a concern? Do you want the ability to go with stock class? Do you prefer right, left, or vertical feed? Do you want to have multiple options when it comes to barrels, or would a single high quality stock barrel apeal to you? Are looks a variable? If so, what kind of looks do you like?
As you can see, there are many many things to look at and you are the only one who can decide.
Lastly, when it comes to pumps you can't go wrong with any choice. The key is the player, not the equipment.

Does that mean we should wait for the compact Japanese model?

but smitty...i shoot both phantom and sniper2. unfortunately i cant hit squat from far away w/ my phantom so i usually stick to using it in the village and such because its nice and tight. but my sniper2 i like using anywhere...ill let you shoot either in the chrono(not on the field cause certain mexicans like to toss them around after they get bunkered so i dont loan them out anymore)

playin pump is VERY good for your game...the first few times you play it your gonna get owned and want to switch back to a semi but tough it out and get used to you gun and used to snap shooting w/ it and such and youll become an all around better player. trust me.

not necessarily...a tippman w/ a flatline barrel will shoot a paintball at 300fps further than a tippman w/ a stock barrel shooting 300fps..

Have you shot a sniper II and a phantom at the same fps side by side? The sniper should win the distance battle. I don't believe I have ever seen a phantom at 280 fps out shoot a sniper II. Am I the only one who has seen this?

Not this argument again. With the exception of special barrels, Flatline, Apex, etc... Assuming everything is the same. If the paintball leaves the barrel at 270 it will travel the same distance, no matter what barrel you have on. No matter what marker you are firing.

And for the record I can hit at distance with my Phantom...

i agree with AGGSAUCE and SCBRIAN phantoms consistancy sux if u use C02 thats the only reason u usually see a sniper out shoot a phantom...but it the ball leaves the barrel at 300 fps every gun that is acceptable (no flatline or apex) will go the same distance...but if u make ur phantom to take nitro...the consistancy will be much better,,,

How quickly I have been forgotten. I suppose I will have to bring "The world's heaviest, most quiet, and most accurate Sniper II" with me in March. I wonder how much I will have to pay in extra baggage weight. I think the limit for domestic flights is 75 lbs. I may make it under by a few grams as long as I leave the ole VL3000 at home.
