Under standing rec ball

I have talked to so many people who are big time speedyball players. and all of them think rec ball is sitting in a bush for about an hour and shooting like two balls. even some people think that you cant use nice E-CLASS ORRACLE's or AUTOCOCKERS in rec ball. Rec ball is like speedyball exept you are in the woods and dont have inflatible bunkers and I find it funner. Like why do people think that Tippmann 98's or A-5's are all you can use in Rec. play.

Stereotypes. People hear about things and believe what they hear.

I do play speedball (own a matrix), but only half the time.

the other half I play a course called "the hill"

its a valley, with bunkers on both sides, about 40 feet of woods in the middle of one side, a creek in the middle of the valley with thick brush (creek is 4-5 feet deep....enough to hide in), and a tower going over the creek in the middle (its an old golf course, so there are all sorts of little bumps here and there, so terain is a bunker). Its truely awesome. Everyone plays the hill differently. I play the hill as if it were a giant speedball course, but i still have to consider the creek, the woods, and the tower. Some play it as woodsball and jump in the creek. I dont consider myself a speedballer, although I'm on a rookie team.

The "hill" sort of reminds me of Fort Marvel at PBC. On the backside there's a ravine that has these large washed out valley's going up close to the fort, which provides excellent cover, and on the other side there's thick woods with used shingle piles for bunkers.

My favorite thing to do off the break is run as fast as I can (which isn't fast) up the far left ravine and catch the other team off the break heading to the fort. I usually unload one halo during that first 30 seconds and it never fails.

Corey, imagine about 40 players running down a path straight at you and all that is showing above ground is your marker. Paradise I tell you!

There really needs to be no difference inherently between rec and speedball other then speed ball has a limit on team sizes, field sizes and is spectator friendly. I've seen rec games be super slow and very low volume and I also seen them very fast paced. Depends on the players, the specific game and the type/size of the field. One of the games we play up here in Columbia is blister ball. Its two equal sized teams starting on the opposite sides of the "Village" with a flag in the center and you win by pulling the flag and hanging at your opponets flag station. Sound Kind Of Familiar? The only difference is that you are not limitied to 5/7/10 players per team the field is odd shaped and there were no beer cans and tacos to blow up. Also not bunker tagging so the shots come close and fast just like speedball. No form of paintball is better than any other there is just personnal preference. Get out there and try them all and play what you like.

yeah, its mostly sterotyping.....woodsball is more stratigies ect... while you can play speedball and rec ball...I mean just cause you dont play tourney doesnt mean you dont play speedball.
