What do you like most about recball

in order to counter the pessimistic side: here are some of the things most that i like about recball

I like the fact that for most of us, it is a lot more affordable.

I like the fact that there are locals who you can make friends with and see every weekend.

I like recball because you dont have to pack up everything that is required for a scenario game.

I see recball as the way of getting new players into the sport, and new players are always a good thing.

What I like most about Rec Ball...

It is where I started.
I have made a lot of friends playing in FUN weekend games.
And that sweet sound of hearing Goggles getting hit.

I like that you can play with a wide range of people (as in interests, economic standings, education, backgrounds, etc.).

I like that you can bring all experience levels together and still have a good time.

I like that you don’t have to be gungho all the time but can play at any pace you want.

I like that you can get silly and push yourself to do things that you know will probably not work… but what the heck!

I like being able to bring new players into the sport and actually be able to coach them on the field.

I like that there are SO many types of games.

I like that equipment does not drive the game, and that as long as you have the minimum gear you can do just fine.

I like that you can play it almost anywhere.

I like that the core player does not tend to have the same over aggressive attitude that you see in other types of play.

I like that if you want to sit out a game and chat with people you CAN and it does not affect your “standings” in the game or day of play.

I like that players of all ages can play and still have a good time.

I like that you can have long games as well as short ones.

I like that folks (and myself) tend to help with gear problems.

I like that the game is about more than JUST shooting someone.

Heck, I could go on all day…. LOL Rec play is MY play.

I like that there is huge teams
I like that its alot more affordable
Cheaper on paint
Don't need a electric gun to be good
Different objectives change up the gameplay
Can play in any woods anywhere
More room to play in, easier to hide...its more Cat and mouse than just starting at shooting distance...

There are many things that I like about recball, many of which have been sayed allready. But the one thing that I have seen in this sport that I have not seen in any other, is the family atmosphere and community build-up that is accomplished in just one visit to the paintball field. In no other sport could you play with someone for a couple of hours and gain a strong enough friendship with that person to pay for his meal, give him a marker, and become a close friend with (all things I've seen). I don't normally make friends easy. Since I'm from a military family, I've moved around the country alot in my life. And because of that it hurts to have to meet, get to know, and leave friends withing 1-3 years so I tend to set up a wall with people only getting to know them a little. But the first day I came to Triggertyme, I saw something in woodsball and scenario play that I didn't see in Speedball or any other sport. I gained strong friendships with people that I didnt' know the day before and was recieved in the paintball community unconditionally with positive and loving greetings from everyone.

The truth of the matter is that many young kids and some adults for that matter do not get alot of love or friendship in their lives as well as a fun sport that keeps the kids/teenagers from getting into trouble. I say this from my own personal experience. And when I see people come for their first time to Triggertyme and other fields, I see them leave with a smile and that personally makes me happy.
The friendship and the family-atmosphere that is built on an accepting and loving environment, makes paintball one of the best sports ever. It has definately kept me out of the dark corners of my life and I know it does the same when a 13 year old plays with the older guys who play paintball -who influence his decisions and the way he acts.

Triggertyme is a small example of what I'm talking about and just about everyfield I go to, I see the same thing.

As [sm] drewcif said, you don't have to pack as much gear when playing recball as you do when playing scenario ball. I also like the aspects of recball more than those of scenario ball.
