Disclaimer: Please note that the following advice is not meant to appear comical. It is not my intent to for you to play mind tricks, Jedi or otherwise, on anyone.

That being said, we all know how difficult dealing with females can be. The same can be noted for males, as well. We are human after all. Whether Allied or Axis, the goal here is to share our love of the sport.

Silverback, you gave up too easily. Whatever happened to the 'thrill of the chase'?

Shrub, she always finds a way to get out of it because she knows she can.

Tackle this with a marketing mindset. You have two avenues: Soft sell or Hard sell. Tailor it specifically to the person you want to join/play. A very basic example for starters: With television commercials does she respond better to the soft, sweet, sappy promos or the direct and to-the-point material? Go from there. Now you know how to start. You either approach this gently or head on.

Areas of concern may include:

1 - Being a disappointment to you. Will she ever be able to meet your standard? (be honest with yourself - you know you have one) Advise her that it's enough that she simply gives it a try. Whatever you do, start small and low-key. Please don't let the world's largest paintball game be her first experience.

Give her your marker and let her practice in the backyard. Then put it away. Don't talk about it. Patience, Grasshopper. ANY type of paintball magazine simply must be left where she can view it. I guarantee you she will leaf through it, probably when you're not around, if she hasn't already done so.

Talk about your marker. Make something up if you have to! "I've noticed it seems a bit.......*insert whatever you want here*. Did you feel it, too?" This of course, a few days after she's played with the marker. Start small and low-key. You're planting seeds here. Too much water at once and she'll float away. You're proving that you value her opinion, valuing her as an asset to your team.

2 - Pain of a paintball hit. We've all seen the incredible welts and bruises. Assure her with appropriate padding she'll truly be o.k. Heaven forbid that she get a serious hit. If so, welcome her into the elite group of those that have bragging rights. She'll likely feel on the same level as you.

Casually mentioning an all female team will evoke two reactions from her:

1- How good do they look?
2- How good do they play?

Yes, there are experienced girl players. Yes, there are newbs. All it takes is the willingness to try.

WHATEVER YOU DO: let her hear you brag about her playing or thinking about playing to your friends. Even if it means you have to forewarn your buddies and tell them to 'play along'.

If you genuinely want her to play then gradually build up steam. Tenacity always wins.

I am glad to see I am not as brainless as I thought, I have used several of the techniques you mention, but I never thought about either of them thinking they would disappoint me, I will have to think back and look at that one some. But thank you very much for you insights.

We couldnt be happier to have the all girls team with the 6th.

My wife just offered to go PB'ing with me if I go to a photography class with her <sigh> Soon I will have her signing up with the 6th and adding a little angry latin chic to the all girls team.

If she plays PB like she fights at home she may takeout both the allies and the axis.
