As the event continues to expand, the need for supporting staff becomes more important for each side and the Bunker. This year the Allies are looking for people to help in a number of areas, particularly for Saturday's main event. It could be as help in our TOC (Tactical Operations Center), help with orientation, as drivers, general support functions, possibly even gunners in vehicles. The list is almost endless.
There are a couple of requirements for these positions. You have to be a registered player and you have to attend orientation. But this could provide the perfect opportunity for people who want to be involved with the largest paintball event in the world but can't take part on the field. Last year we had a guy in our TOC with a cast on his leg (I wish I knew his name) who was a huge help. He planned on playing, but due to the injury he just couldn't. He ended up making a huge contribution in the TOC and having a good time. So this could be the perfect spot if your injured, in a wheelchair, disabled, or just don't feel comfortable taking the field for any reason. It would be perfect for the parent, sibling or friend of a player who wants to be involved but can't play. We'll have all kinds of opportunities and want to extend the offer to those who are interested. Contact me if you're interested and we'll find the perfect spot for you. srisken623@aol.com |

ALLIED COMMAND - For immediate release
![]() In order to help reduce the number of questions from players who may be looking to attend this event, in terms of which of the Allied Command's units is best suited for them, the Allies have now launched a 'new' public website which offers them the chance to find out what each unit's mission in the event is, who heads it up and a little about the actual history of the unit. The site also provides direct links to the Official Oklahoma D-Day sign up website, so they don't have to waste more time looking to find it. LINK: http://alliedforces.sfdeltat.com Thanks for creating this site go to Maréchal de France, Mike "Frenchy" Shelby, as well as to his team, SF DELTA T for hosting the site. http://www.sfdeltat.com/ If anyone has any additional questions, either about the ALLIED COMMAND, or the Annual Oklahoma D-Day event, please send them to my attention, or also feel free to give my office a call. Allied Command Update
It seems like it was jsut yesterday and not
9 months ago, but the calender doesn't lie. With just under 100 days till the next D-Day event to go, there's even less time than that for those of you who want to pick the unit you'll be assigned to. You have till aPRIL 1st, April Fools Day to pick your unit and get signed up. You can sign up via the internet, or you can always call them, but don't delay. Ok, lets face it you're tax return isn't going to get here in time, so instead of being able to puick your team you're options after April 1st still aren't all that bad, you can still pick the side you wish to play with and someone will assign you to a unit that still needs players. You say you're like me, you don't start your Christmas shopping till Christmas eve, well if that's you and you wait till May 1st, you're going to have to settle for whichever side still needs players, forget about picking, that option is now gone To recap, sign up between now and 1 April and pick your unit, wait till 2 April and you've still got two options, but after 1 May even that option goes away. Come the day of the game, sure, just bring more cash and take your chances as to where you'll end up. For a list of Allied Units still looking for players drop me a note or check on the official D-Day website; D-Day Adventure Park - Home , or give them a call @ 918.666.3411. That clock is till ticking and while there's no real
rush to avoid the higher entry cost deadline, the one by which you get to pick the unit you're with is now only 14 days away. What's the difference if I wait or not, after it's just a game, right? To anyone who thinks that's the case, let me tell you why that's not true. For starters, both sides have set age restrictions on who can join some of their units, because they both understand that younger players tend to get tired faster. So if you're not going to be 15 YO by the time the game gets here, your choice of units is somewhat limited to begin with. They also know that unless you've had a chance to actually play the field, all 700+ acres of it that is, then you also don't fully appreciate just how physically demanding it's going to be. With these two factors you need to keep in mind, and with April 1st fast approaching, are you need to ask yourself, am I willing to let someone else pick which unit I'll be assigned to, or would I prefer to make that choice myself? In closing, if you'd like to come and take part, but for whatever reason either you're not fit enough to play, or perhaps you're only coming because your son or daughter asked you to bring them. If that's the case and you're wondering how to kill all that time, drop me a line or give my office a call because we've got plenty of meaningful tasks which you can do without ever having to step on the field. 10 days and counting. That's how long you have before they
cut off your ability to select the unit you want to join. Even if only part of your group can't sign up before the deadline go ahead and register the rest now. Then make sure the others note on their registrations that they're part of the team or better still call in and register so there's no mistakes. Don't let this opportunity to join the Allied Command, the worlds largest team of players as we take on the best our foes the Germans can muster during an exciting week of non-stop paintball action. Still need help picking a unit, got questions on any aspect of this event, either drop me a note or better still give my office a call. Rangers Lead The Way
Grifter and team Wetworkz have been hard at work recruiting for the Rangers. But you don't see them posting all over the Internet. They're recruiting quietly and carefully. It's just like their presence on the field. They do it silently and carefully, and suddenly they're there in your face, taking an objective from you before you knew what happened.
The US Rangers have 3 Battalions at D-day. The 2nd Battalion is assigned to Utah, the 5th Battalion is assigned to Omaha, and the 1st Battalion lands by "rubber boat" at a secret, undisclosed point of their choosing. The Ranger leadership from top to bottom is rock solid with years of experience leading elite special forces units. Wetworkz built and runs the Obstacle Course, and Grifter and his leaders have run the US Rangers for years. They all experienced and committed to making the Rangers one of the toughest, most capable units on the field. The 1st Battalion is lead by Justin "G-Man" Gann, of Team Wetworkz. He has lead the 1st Rangers as CO since the appointment of Grifter to rank of General of the Rangers. The 2nd Battalion is lead by Eddie Mosquera. This is his 3rd time leading the 2nd and if you played with him before you know how well he does on the field. He gets it done no matter what! The 5th Battalion is lead by Brandon Ward. No one knows the field better than he does. He's been playing here since it was literally a cow pasture. Brandon knows how to run elite units with special missions because that's what he's done at D-day. At this point, there's still openings in the Rangers. But you have to be over 15. You have to participate in the Obstacle Course on Wednesday afternoon at 1600 (4:00 PM). And you have to be willing to play hard, long paintball all day. You won't find these guys talking crap in the "barreled tagged" section. Nor will you find them bragging about how any one particular Ranger single-handedly shot 20, 30, or 40 Germans. They won't bribe you to join with rank, drink or girls. What you will find is a unit with amazing teamwork who quietly impacts the entire game FAR beyond their small, elite numbers. They play as a unit and they destroy the Germans as a unit. You have to WANT to be a Ranger at Oklahoma D-day. You already know the deadlines are coming. If you want to wear the Ranger tab at Oklahoma D-day don't wait and lose this opportunity to be part of this amazing, elite US Special Forces unit. Old Proverb
What I hear I forget.
What I hear and see, I remember a little. What I hear, see and ask questions about or discuss with someone else, I begin to understand. What I hear, see, discuss and do allows me to acquire knowledge and skill. And what I teach to another, I MASTER. What does this old proverb have to do with D-Day? I've noted it to remind everyone that D-Day is far more than a weeks worth of non-stop paintball. At D-Day both sides have any number of units that are standing ready to offer you a variety of training classes which are frequently led by skilled, mostly prior military trained fellow players. Not enough you say, how about signing up for one or more of a wide variety of 'unique to D-Day only' training courses. That's right, a mix of free and low cost, professionally taught training courses. For example there's a low cost course for those seeking to learn skills that'll help make you a better sniper. There's a free Ranger Qualifying Course which teaches you how to work as a team to do a series of tasks which can only be accomplised when you all work as a team and then there's a series of low cost, professionally taught courses being offered by the 1 Shepherd www.1shepherd.com team, which will teach you the ins and outs of offensive tactics, using 40 state of MILEs equipped 'Real Steel,' blank firing semi and full auto weapons. Just ask yourself, do you want to attend another run of the mill scenarios games where no one knows what's going on or who's in charge, or do you want to join a team that's being lead by someone who wants to show you how to do things you never dreamed possible without actually joining the military? Just one note, the cut off for selecting the unit of your choice is coming to a close in just a few days. Don't be left wondering which unit you'll be assigned to, register today and see why they say "it's only a game till you've played it." NEWS FLASH!
The staff at the Bunker has announced that they're extending the deadline for people to sign up with the unit of their choice. This is being done in part at least because the date for the event was pushed back a week compared to when it's typically been held. This means you've still got a few more days to get yourself registered for the unit of your choice, so do it now before that option goes away and you're left wondering where they'll assign you. When you go to a typical scenario how well do the
people they've picked to lead you really know what's going on? How well do they know your objectives and for that matter how well do they know you and the rest of those under their command? Well at the annual Oklahoma D-Day Event people who've been placed in charge know such things pretty well, because they've been taking the same ground now for several years. Here's just one example of what I'm talking about. It's a note from the Executive Officer for the 1st Infantry Division. "My name is Shane Walter, from northwestern Iowa, and I've been playing paintball for aproximately 10 years. I'm a five time D-Day veteran, my son Capt. Maverick, is a four time veteran and we're looking forward to this year's game like never before. I started out at D-Day as a ground pounder with the Big Red One and worked my way up the ranks from platoon leader, to Company Commander to the Executive Officer position I hold today. I've heard it said - it's not what you know, it's who you know, and while that's partially true in my case, the fact that I've been hanging around on Omaha Beach for several years has certainly contributed to my lofty status. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with General Sully, Captain Rock, Major Killer, Captain Hawkeye, Capt. Maverick and Sgt. Spike these last few years and look forward to working with them and the troopers of the 1st ID once again. This is the most fun you'll ever have and I can't wait to storm the beaches with you once again!" If your tired of being led around by the unknowing and the ungrateful, why not join the 1st Infantry Division or anyone of the other Allied Command units this year and take part in the historic storming of the Normandy Beaches. Come and join us for the 2008 Oklahoma D-Day event, where you'll learn why people who've played there say, "It's just a game till you've played it." SPECIAL NOTE: While the privilage of selecting the unit you wish to enlist in has ended, there's still a very good chance of getting the unit of your choice. Just make sure to note that you want to join the 1st ID when you call in to register and so long as there's still room they'll probably assign you to it. Just remember, after May 15th that option, along with the 75.00 entry fee for a week of non-stop paintball fun both go away. Rates as of May 16th are 100.00 for the week including ALL the HPA or CO2 you care to use.
