Floating insertion rule-Bakara
Hey everybody, just got back from Bakara and had a good time!! TRiggertyme does great scenarios. The missions were fun and challenging and I never played in a game before that had multiple missions going at the same time to choose from, that got my team involved in the missions more so than usual.
This is just a suggestion, but we need to re think the floating insertion rule. During the game, I was involved in a mission to take the Olympic motel and help the MOG team take the LZ that was right in front of it. My team approached the tower and found there was no one in it. As we went to go inside, 2 Rangers arrived and started up the stairs. They did not have barrel plugs/condoms and did not raise thier hands up or guns up to show they were out. We opened fire and they started yelling at us saying they were out and the put the guns over thier heads and went to the tower. We assaulted the tower and eliminated the two players right away with gun hits when they stuck them out the windows. That gave us the clear to take the tower. They eliminated players did not come out, call themselves or even stop shooting, thus eliminating my team when we thought it wa safe to move. This creates an impossible situation. The opposing force cannot take the floating insertion point because: 1 We can't shoot already dead players entering the point to prevent them from reinserting there 2 we can't eliminate the players inside because they are immortal at the re insertion 3 we can't occupy the tower because one person who can't be eliminated can enter the tower and take out the entire opposing team 4 there was no ref there to help with the confusion of who is out and looking for wipers, which I saw on the ranger side at the radar station shanty town mission. Both teams took extreme advantage of this and created a large amount of confusion. Here is a suggested rule modification: When given a floating re insertion point, players eliminated outside the confines of the re insertion building may return to the building and re insert from that point, making sure to have barrel plugs in and guns or hands over heads to indicate who is out. Players inside the reinsertion point who are eliminated must return to the teams main base to reinsert, thus giving the opposing team an opportunity to take and hold the building. There would need to be a ref there to tell when the floating re insertion point is open or closed by the mission time. Attacking teams would have to reinsert at their main base as always. Also, just a question but do rain ponchos fall under the ghillie suit rules of any hit is an elimination, not just a break? I shot a guy with a rain poncho on in the center of the chest wth no break and he was still in. I don't think any ball would break under those conditions. He even told me that the hit stung him as I was walking to my reinsertion. Something to think about. There was an incident where two people on the ranger side over shot a group of 4 from about 5 feet away in the MOG firebase after they had surrendered. The ranger stuck thier markers through a small firing port in the base and started shooting without being able to see the targets. One was unarmed and another took three balls to the back of the head, and had to leave the game early due to the pain. I checked on him in the parking lot and he said he was going to talk to thumper about it, so the problem should be corrected in short order. My son was one of the victims and was shot 6 times in the leg from his ankle to groin after surrendering and putting his hands up. Some of the hits actually bled, that's how close the ranger gunman was . I was outside the base having gun problems and had already surrendered, watching the whole incident I told the rangers several times that the base had surrendered. There was a ref there but he was facing the other way and did not see it. I told the ref but do not know what was done about it. Just some minor things. I love TT's field and scenarios and you can count team oddball in for MOB wars in January. I have always found TT staff to be professional and enforce the rules fairly and I will continue to support thier business and have fun there!!! Play safe and have fun. PS I finally met Drewcif and Jerseyone and they are exemplary in how they conduct themselves on the field. Sorry I couldn't play Sunday, but I had that work thang. Sorry I missed spyderman and Sarge. Maybe in January. Old School-CPT. team oddball |

Very valid points. Excellent Suggestions.
-As far as the floating insertion points. Yes, they are tricky to play and they have their weaknesses. The main as we learned is extrememly close shooting. Basically what it comes down to it is that when you can respawn in an area an enemy must either do something to eliminate players, or do nothing. In my Opinion based on this game, at this time, i wouldnt let players occupy an enemys base. It makes it very difficult to re-insert, and also at times can be somewhat dangerous. Though i applaud thumpers quick decisions, on making these work in the game. Im glad you had a good time, though my skills as CC are definetly lacking. I look forward to seeing you again at MoB wars. Oddball too, played exemplary ball. Drew

Winners
I'll be looking for the results on TT's home page. But, as well as the game was run by the TT staff, we're all winners. Looking forward to MOB wars.

winner...
according to Thumper on sunday the score was something along the lines of (for the entire weekend) 2500ish to 880ish...
rangers won...by A LOT!! lol as the only ref on the field sunday i appreciate any compliments...lol it was a fun game and i really really enjoyed it!! sadly however i ended up reffing all weekend and did not get to play at all....but i will most likely be at free finale next weekend and will shoot anything that moves there...my team or not.. as a ref though i did see people shooting close range even after surrenders and victims calling themselves out....i tried to stop this or at least keep it to a minimum as much as possible b/c i know it hurts A LOT to get overshot especially at close-range!! i know there were some brutal wounds from the game but as far as i know nobody was injured too badly...there was a lot of disorganization on the field with a lack of referees and such....but hopefully MOB WARS will be much better!!! thanks for the feedball..
Feedback is a good thing, it helps improve the process. And believe me, I saw or was on top of all issused raised and was adjusting things like a mad man on the fly.
Ponchos - I notified the players w/ ponchos that bounces count - just like Ghilly suits. Dynamic (floating) spawn : we had lots of lessons learned about their usage, and thanks to everyone for their patience and understanding as we tested this idea out underfire. Im planning on lunching w/ Grendel on a plan for future dynamic spawn games and how to best construct/deploy/manage on-field insertions. Close shots and overshooting : well, some of this is unavoidable, lots of responsibility falls to the individuals and their team mates to "police their own". As for me, Ive never been to a scenario where it is free of a few instances - and I'll settle for a few. Right now we are at a 10bps request cap - this is the most restrictive ROF cap of any field I know of in the area - asside from pump only play. (TT enforces a 6bps cap during recball weekends) Thanks again to everyone for coming - and the good time had by all.
