dude, buying a money order takes about 10 seconds. if you went to the post office, that was mistake numero uno- wal-mart or any grocery store can do it at the cust service desk. it took me longer to read this thread than to register my team for past events that were too far to reg in person.
apparently i'm not the only one.

It didn't take me long to fill out the reg and waiver forms, fill out the check, and drop in the mail slot during my lunch break... I just like the convenience of typing out my info, then hitting the 'submit' button... I'm an IT guy... I'm just lazy like that.. Simplicity and automation are key... Now if I can figure out a way to automate the scenario registration submissions for the year... hhmm..

paperworks just part of it. most of my guys are reliable so i just let them do their own paperwork and send in a money order/cashiers check. i just give them a deadline and they do just fine. if they want to go they will get it done or be left at home.

i also have mailed everything in a manilla envelope before. i just get the guys over one night to fill out paperwork. usually cookout and get drunk. collect all the cash. then i go to the bank and just get a cashiers check.

ill wait a week and call the field to make sure everybody is good.

what i really really like is the fields that you can call and get a total for all fees including paint and air. then when you get there all you have to do is check in and pick up your team packet and divy it all out and your done. i talked to bearclaw bob about the dec game and he was telling me i can actually pre pay all my teams stuff. said my paint tickets will be in the packet. so much better than trying to collect over a grand on the spot for paint and standing in line.

What I wonder about is why players can't take a few minutes to read the registration form.
*Hint, it says no personal checks*

yea I exaggerated a little bit.....i forgot the 2 minutes it took to download the form and fill it out....

so it actually took me 17 minutes....

i got the money order at the post office...stuck it all in an envelope with the paperwork and paid for it and handed it to the lady and said thanks....

Feh, your teams sound like the model of efficency compared to mine.

half of my guys cant make up their minds if they're coming until about 2 days before we leave.
It makes the paperwork simple though, first thing on the trip is i toss a pile of paperwork back to everyone and have them fill it out then and pass em back up.
it's good for about 15 mins of peace and quiet.

Now that that is out of the way I want to explain to ACE the facts behind why things are done this way. I would have been more than happy to spend time with him on the phone and explained all of this but apparently spreading this out on three different threads is easier for him.

The reason why we cannot accept faxed copies or emailed copies is simple: Original Signatures. Insurance REQUIRES that all waivers have the original hand written signatures on them to be considered valid. Anything faxed, emailed, copied etc is not a valid waiver and will not protect us. Seeing as you need both waivers and the form to register why would we have people fax in a copy just to bring in the originals the day of. That would waste a lot more time getting people registered the day of the event and even more paper.

Quote:
Why not set up an online registration and accept payment with either credit card or PayPal?
We will have anywhere from 350-600 players signing up for this scenario and we have TWO people doing all of the registration work on top of our usual store duties. If there was an easier way do you not think that we would do it? One this cost money to do and time to keep it up and even more accounting for only two scenarios are year. If we had numerous scenarios a year or some type of online store this would be great. But for a local field and a brick and mortar store this is not the best option.

Personal Checks: After having been burned multiple times for a couple thousands dollars I am sure a lot of small business would decide not to take personal checks. The other problem with this is, especially this late is that they will not get cleared before the scenario. If they bounce then someone just got to play for free. Not only that but how much time/effort would it take to get it reimbursed if he was out of state? We have been doing this for over a year and it is working out fine.

In closing, I have been taking registrations since mid September. There are MULTIPLE ways to get to the waivers and have problems answered. Registrations are available on PBC, PBJ and MPP. If you read the original Leyte thread that Brain started on September 9th he give the exact link to where they are available.

I saw that you had problems on the PBC website with registrations but if you just read the forums, which you can do without registering, someone had the same problem and was given the link to MPP for the waivers.

Not only that but reading PBJ you would see that BOTH of the owners are on here and a simple PM would solve the problem.

Don’t like that? Call the PBC store and talk to me or Geoff. I have sent out multiple emails with the waivers attached along with faxing it to numerous people.

If you still have any issues please contact the PBC Store at (843) 552-1115. It is much easier than posting on the forums.
