i get overshot all the time. i dont even care. i just walk back to base and go back out again. i think if you cant handle it, stay home. its gonna happen eventually. some more than others in my case.

I feel the same way about myself -- but I take my 10yr old with me when I play away games now - and the fields where overshooting and similar behavior have become accepted have been scratched off the list - but there are still plenty of fields where sportsmanship is paramount; refs are skilled; and where I feel safey and fun are priorities to the field owner and staff - and thats where my son and I will go.

dont get me wrong. i do not advocate intentionall overshooting. things do get crazy out there at some games. most of the time i get overshot is walking off, by nervous players and in crazy mass firefights.

dito,
At scenario games i just expect to take 5-10 extra anymore, espically if walking out of a firefight.
half the time the opposition doesnt see your gun up or from their vantage point your gun was behind a tree or limb or what not,
hell i'm guilty of being on the giving end from time to time myself.

hey thumper, would u mind shootin me a PM with your list of fields, i've got a few youngins who play with my team from time to time and when they're with us i try to stear clear of those kind of fields. I dont care so much for myself but the young guns aren't very fond of it and i'd rather them not get burned on paintball at their age.

I don't think most players intentionally overshoot anyone, at least in my experience. What I see most often are players crowding too closely - when there are 4 guys using the same bush, and you get hit, you had better run away from that bush.

Most of the time I see someone getting overshot, the shooter wasn't even aiming at them. I also see live players using dead players for cover ALL THE TIME. And how many times do we see dead players not putting on their condoms, not holding their markers up, and simply not getting out of the action?

When I get bonus balled, my first assumption is that I am in someone's line of fire (who is shooting at someone else) - and it's almost always true, even if I didn't realize it at the time.

What I find suprising are that so many players that take an extra ball or 2 first assume it was malicious - when it almost always isn't.

I know Paintball Charleston (SC) and Command Decisions (NC) are both excellent scenario fields, top to bottom. I have heard excellent reports from players at Bear Claw (TN). I would feel comfortable taking my son to any of these.

It is hard at times to tell if it is blatent overshooting, or just a group attack. I like to hear about younger kids playing and hope they learn the correct way to play. If you are on this forum, odds are you are an upstanding player and try your best not to hurt anyone on the field.
There are times when I have seen opponents get hit and keep playing, bounces? Maybe. If I continualy see it from the same group (cheaters always hang in groups like chickens) I keep shooting until the hands and markers go up. Is that right of me? Judgement call. I always put my marker up, if the shots keep coming then I will yell out "HIT". Why can't all players do that. I have played with children under 16 years old alot and try to teach them how to do things like that. Everyone gets hit, if you do not, you are a cheat or a liar. Do it the right way and show the newbs how to do it also. We as adults have the responsibility to play and teach with honor and fairness.
Those players that went to BB on the 12th showed me alot, most of the time we reffed ourselves and I saw the best examples of fair play, more than I have seen in a long time from such a large group. Yes there was the occasional playing on, more by the semi's than the pumpers. I look forward to the next pump day and will see all of you there.
