For that price range, i would go ICD Promaster all the way. Unless he is wanting a MilSpec looking marker.

I'll put any of mine against high end guns any day. The current pricepoint of the Promaster is ridiculous. You get a great high end type marker for a "ION" pricetag.

Anyway, there are marker forums in here whre this would be better placed.

Might I suggest a Dye Matrix 3. They are great guns and the price has sunk on them. They are not "sexy" anymore. Great guns.

I just picked up an Alien Interceptor and I'm pretty impressed with it. If you go to the evilest paintball site in the world *cough*pbnation*cough* you can pick up an "05" for around $300. I also just picked up e1-orracle off of e-bay for $200.

If he wants to upgrade a lot, I hate to say it, but have him get an Ion. There's a slew of upgraded Ions selling used for that price range.

To save some of that money for a decent hopper, get a used ION with the Virtue and still have money left over.

Ions are defienetely worth the money. Bar none. You won't regret getting one. And if he gets one and has a problem with it, let me know. I'll take care of it.

Ions are evil. I will *never* use an Ion...they ruined the paintball world :P.
