Question about Scenario pricing

Why in the hell do some places charge X + Y for Air? Why can they not just charge one freaking price?

$15 for 2 day event air is the going rate I have seen. Anything less is a discount/promo. $18 is not uncommon...

What ticks me off is when the fields charge $15 for event air PER TANK... I just bring a few extra full tanks to these gigs and spend the $15 on steak instead.

The sewer rats have been telling MPP games and Bearclaw, Wildfire, PBC, Command Decision, the same thing. The more people that go up to MPP games and the field reps and tell them to charge one price the sooner it will be changed. Because Ben told me we are the only ones that say any thing to him about it, so at BCP let them know just like we do just combine into one price. I don't know about your teams but it's easier to get all the money at once than for reg then at the field pay everything else.

Maybe some kid like me who brings his own scuba tank doesn't need any air....

Then I'd be like 'dude, why do I have to help pay for Soco's air. This is like socialized medicine..."

When I go to a baseball game I don't want the price to include a hot dog and chips and a coke.. I may just want a beer.

The more choices consumers have the better...

The argument I've heard against separate gas prices is that consolidated, it holds the one day player or the pay-by-the-fill player to an all event price. Personally, I am a huge supporter of all inclusive pricing. And it makes it a Hell of a lot easier for the producer to put a "paid" air zip tie or sticker in the player's registration pack.

And John brings up a very good point... What if the producer/air co would offer a discounted price on a second tank? Say five bucks to put in an additional tank? I'd have to say no more than one additional tank, but it may be a good compromise. You can't use two tanks at once, so....

HPA is and has always been a flat rate.
CO2 has limited fills for the $15 fee...the differance is HPA can be produced from well right out of "Thin Air" LOL...CO2 on the other hand has to be bought in larg tanks, by the pound, transported, loaded, unloaded, loaded again. So producers have to charge by the fill after the flat rate has been reached. Plus someone has to fill the player tanks, insted of the player hooking up the HPA tank under supervision themselves.
The problem with personal fill stations is a legal one. If you get injured or killed or kill someone else the producer/field owner is liable, thats why they are not allowed at scenarios any more. If you violate the rule of no Personal fill stations...well there are concequences.
I use HPA exclusively, but my team mates get around the problem of standing in line waiting for a CO2 fill by bringing there own 20oz CO2 tanks allredy charged.
IMO a hpa tank is a hpa tank. Limiting a players ability to change to a different hpa tank used is ludicrous.
