Rules? For a field:

In reading a lot of the threads here lately there has been talk of over shooting, ramping... I want to know what your thoughts are on basic field rules should be and why. Start with safety then move into game play.

1. Always keep your barrel plug on both on and off the field until game begins.
2. Al way keep your goggles on in areas of play and any other areas that require it.
3. Keep your safety on until game begins.
4. No blind shooting.
5. 20ft. Surrender rule.
6. 300 FPS (Max.)
7. 15 BPS (Max.) It doesn't matter how you get there as long as it's not over.
8. Do not fire your gun until horn has started and stop shooting once horn ends the game.
9. No purposely over shooting.
10. Barrel Tagging is allowed.

Here's what I think are some basic once and when i have more time I'll add some more and elaborate. I'd like to hears what yours are and what you think.

Here are TriggerTyme's recball / woodsball rules
http://www.triggertyme.com/paintball...y-briefing.htm

And an online version of the TT ref training manual
http://www.triggertyme.com/paintball-reffing-manual.htm

For woodsball w/ novices or mixed groups I recommend 6bps max. TT has not had any overshooting problems during recball since implementing this safety restriction 19 months ago. (Private seasoned groups could always ask to lift the restriction if all players wanted to). In that same period we had maybe 2 complaints about it being to low that I heard. In that same period we had less then 10 players push the rule, and these exceptions were easily handled.

I also heard Paintball Charleston just cracked way down on their standing on "modes" for woodsball/scenario ball.

In woodsball I don't really see why you would want to shoot 15 balls a second. The max and that's if I'm lucky is 8 to 9 balls a second. I prefer one shot one kill. LOL, but most the time that doesn't happen. I use a single trigger in turbo mode on my A5. In a heated gun battle I usually deliver about 6 BPS. However in real combat you have true autos and that's why I think the 15 BPS is good. Try to be a little bit true to real life in the sims. Just because it's not my thing as long as it is done safe I don't have a problem with someone else doing it. Now that said, I think as you mentioned you have to consider your players. A beginner with a 1 to 2 shot a second trigger pull on a rental going against a more experience player at 15 BPS is just unfair and if I was the more experience player it wouldn't be enjoyable to get a win like that. This could discourage the beginner from playing as well.

hey guys.....whatever the FPS rule is any field they should look closly at who is playing that day ,look at what they are shooting so you can balance the teams the right way...we always look first at guns, age, size, experience then we balance teams from there..as new people check in we add them to each side the same way....also in our staging area before game start I always make a point of letting everyone know who is new and ask them to be kind to a newbie because if he or she has a bad time today they may never come back to the sport and thats not what we all want...remember at one time we were all newbies....lets help keep this sport alive....it sure is fun when it done right....Godfather

My 2 CENTS, one of the thing that allways gets me going is ,The DEAD MAN walk in Rec. Ball all you are going to do is Light up so newby & in a 24 hr. game the person doing the DEAD man WALK is the one who usually get's light-up and the mad I have seen this at several fields we have played.
Rule on ARM BANDS at some field you do not have to have exposed other the must be able to see, the Tape at all time.
