Good point. I would think the magazines would be steered towards who is going to pay them the most for advertising. Let's look at Dye Precision for example. I'm sure they pay a large chunk for full page ads in magazines to help sell their gear which happens to be geared more towards tourny play than anything else.

Look at Spec Ops and Paintball Sports for example. Every ad in Paintball Sports from them is geared towards tactical/sceanario/woodsball customers simply because their products are geared more towards that industry.

So you now have articles in the magazine where this stuff is used.

What's funny is, people actually think that the front page pictures on these magazines are real. Most of the time they are staged...

PB2X finally had to give it up for lack of interest (subscriptions and advertisers).

Was there two different Crossfire magazines or did the magazine vary from scenario and tournament paintball?

PB2X IS geared toward the speedball crowd. The fact is that a majority of the sales in paintball gear is driven by the speedball side of the sport. The reason is because that speedball is a spectator friendly sport. Woodsball is not. Even tho everybody know that most paintball players are woodballers, speedball is the face that the public sees. Its the "sexy" side of the sport and that is what drives the sales.

If a particular magazine wants to gear their coverage towards a particular aspect of the sport, why try to change it? if you want to read about scenarios and woodsball and stuff, then read APG. Don't try to make a magazine change to suit you and your interests. That's just dumb. They can cover what they want ad leave out what they want. Try reading Crossfire (oh wait, they discontinued this because nobody wanted to read the articles about scenarios and woodsball) or APG (this is FULL of noob articles and scenarios and woods stuff.) It doesn't make anysense to me why you woul dtry to get a company to change their product when they seem to be happy with the way it's going.

How about next we try to make DYE make a tactical sniper woods scenario gun!!!!

I don't know, maybe because PB2X is owned by one of the biggest paintball companies in the sport.

Maybe because a paintball magazine should support the players that support the industry that supports the company that makes mula from said industry instead of treating them as second class. PB2X has never featured on the cover a non-tournament event no matter how big. Not one....

As has been said by many (even though I have yet to see proof) there are a lot more woodsballers then tournament players. Tournament has been around...what?.....ten years? and it still being elipsed by woodsball. Maybe an industry magazine is betting on the wrong horse?

A believe I saw it posted that PB2X only has 10,000 subscribers.....maybe they would have more if they were viewed as more then just a tournment mag.

Sorry, shortened it for the space...

I don't see any point in personally attacking someone on here, period. From what I can tell, Ragtop isn't trying to change a magazine...he is simply saying that PB2X claims to represent the entire sport, and he and many others feel that it is not proportioned correctly between the tourney scene and the scenario scene. I tend to agree. However, I haven't seen any magazine that I think gives scenarios the coverage they deserve, but thats just me. Paintball Sports does a better job than most from what I've seen.

I bet people never thought Spyder would be making a tactical marker. I know a ton of people who said Spec Ops and Ops Gear would fail. SmartParts releasing the SP-8 shocked quite a few people as well. NXe, who has always been into the tourney scene came out with a tactical vest. Dye might decide to try their hand in the scenario scene if they see a potential for profit.

I know I am an odd bird as I have never been much into hero worship. When other kids were talking about their favorite NFL player (dating myself I know) I would just zone out.

It just seems with tournament ball STILL representing a small portion of paintball overall that a lot of the industries efforts still seem to be wasted in creating these heroes instead of catering to where the real growth in paintball has always been.
but the psp xball and nppl are whats getting media coveradge out there right now. you dont see tv cameras at a 24 hr game to show it on espn do you? and as far as pb2x yes it is for speedball ive read it a good mag i think but i do read paintball sport and apg more than pb2x
