Lightbulb Scenario coverage in PB2X

Ok, I have been giving PB2X a hard time for their skewed coverage of paintball to the minority of players: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=1741947

Do you feel that PB2X shows a fair balance of the game of paintball?

It shows some scenario, so yes, they get a fair balance, seeing as it's mainly a speedball magazine. Read APG if you want to read about scenario ball, they have more of that than speedball.

disclosure

I thought I might better make a full disclosure.....
I have submitted items to PB2X with no feedback from
them; that might influence my feelings on the matter
a little bit.

I have tried to get both ragtopvideo.com and scenariopaintballteams.com listed in their untangling the web section.

I had offered to do an interview for the one on one section (which has talked with other video producers) about the challenges of videotaping scenario paintball.

i think that pb2x does a good job, id rather read facecfull because it is geared more toward the "speedballer", and pb2x swings that way too, but over the last few months ive thought that they did a good job at covering it all.

I am a tad ignorant to the current magazine coverage however I have last Decembers issue on hand it it covers two scenarios and has a section on what the locals do. It has a lot of tourny coverage as well but I think this particular issue caters to the masses.

I write mainly for Paintball Sports and I'd say their coverage is nearly the same with a good mixture of scenario/tournament/products.

Concerning the issue of feedback, I think it's an industry standard. Nobody sends feedback unless you pester the editor (I have in the past). I think those folks are constantly laying out the next issue that they really don't have time to be thoroughly going through material, commenting, etc.

At one point in the past 5 months I contemplated sending some material to PB2x and from what I have heard they had a serious backlog of scenario material and weren't actively looking for new material. Anyway, it deterred me enough not to send anything.

I don't think getting your sites listed in a web directory of the magazine just involves sending them your links. I think that involves sponsorships, etc but I could be wrong.

Numbers

So, with the majority of players being rec-ball not tournament players; you do not feel that tournament coverage is over represented. How many times do pictures from Scenario Games or Big Game make the cover compared with the number of tournament covers?

I know I am an odd bird as I have never been much into hero worship. When other kids were talking about their favorite NFL player (dating myself I know) I would just zone out.

It just seems with tournament ball STILL representing a small portion of paintball overall that a lot of the industries efforts still seem to be wasted in creating these heroes instead of catering to where the real growth in paintball has always been.

Interesting........shame they don't put more in the magazine.
Take care of that backlog.

What's funny is there must be some limitation somewhere because after 4 or 5 months of backlog the story would be a tad old don't you think? Who want's to ready about D-Day 5 months after it took place?

Crossfire, PB2X's sister publication, is geared towards scenario and woods ball. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Equal space

Hmm.....so should PB2X cover scenario paintball at all? There slogan is covering the game.....If they want to cover all of paintball then the coverage proportions should be fairer is all I am getting at.
