Why can’t, Scenario paintball be played in like Tampa Stadium. My vision is a field with debris, foliage, rock structures, bombed out ruins, anything your mind can imagine. All of this can be made portable, able to be broken down. I mean they have “Monster Truck’s” with mountains of dirt “Real Dirt”. Scenario Paintball could be a spectator sport in short time. The camera’s are there and they have the flying camera on wires that can shoot shots of play as it happens. It could be televised nationwide or world wide. I know this sound like Speed ball but there wouldn’t be any blow up bunkers, there would be real or almost real bunkers with sand bags ect. All the trappings, of a battlefield, either modern or historic. Players would ware period costuming, or something similar. The main thing is it could be televised to whom ever was interested in watching. I would watch. You would watch.
Just an idea I’ve been thinking about. |

I have yet to understand why speed ball gets filmed and scenario doesn't. They even have kid nation on TV, if you made it a survivor type game people would go crazy to text something about there favorite player. I think woods ball scenario has the biggest growth in the industry and you would think TV would take notice , besides Ive never seen a speed ball game filmed where you could follow it anyway. I really think people could get into the game, pick a player and follow their progress hell people will watch anything as long as it's reality TV. ha ha

and then someone thought up of using irrigation tubes, hence your famous "HyperBall" field.., and it was all gearing towards making the sport more viewer friendly. which didnt last very long before inflatables started showing up.. so now.. speedball is whats getting all the camera action.. its small enough fields for easier coverage. more action packed. and whatever else..Honestly, i love the woods, but speedball is what they use to get viewers attention in their attempt to keep the sport growing.. just harder to cover in the woods.

While I would love to see scenario, or woodsball on TV it would take a while to get the earnings and following to equal the cost of moving in all the equipment and filming, then clean up. Whereas speedball, inflate balloons, put up nets, deflate balloons, cleans up gallons of paint. Now if only there were a way to make it like the running man without fatalities, then the following would pick up quicker, but then good luck breaking in for the average Joe. It could be done but being cost effective would be the biggest problem.

Not to mention stealth tactics and doing what your opponent unexpects are some very key elements to victory. I don't want my team followed by a big, clunky camera man and boom mic operator. Can you image waiting in a defensive position and seeing those guys try to manuever up to your position? Laughable.
Besides, do we really want to be more like speedball? Do we really want to have to sell our souls for a little more money or a few more fans? You guys go on without me. I'll be back here having fun as a purist.

Every player has a "Gun Cam" Wolf your thinking in the woods Im suggesting the venue be more like a football stadium, where the spectators have viewing angles like pro football, this wouldn't be played in the woods. You are free to do with your soul what ever you please. God gave you the freedom of choice. Im only suggesting that the SPPL could benifit from a different venue, but not like speedball. Something where spectators could be involved in the game insted of waiting on the sidelines for the outcome. Weather you like my idea or not, this is only discussion. SFV_C: I admit the logistics are daunting but it could be done. After all we are the only people on this planet to have sent our people to the moon. Last edited by SirRod; 11-18-2007 at 08:52 AM. |

Hey Guys....the main reason speedball gets so much play is : THE GUN MFG AND THE PAINT MFG ARE IN BED TOGETHER...MAKE A FASTER SHOOTING GUN AND WE SELL MORE PAINT....FASTER GUNS=MORE PAINT=MORE MONEY...LET'S PUT IT ON TV AND WE WILL SELL MORE OF BOTH...it's in your face, fast paced, it's colorful, and everyone can watch...then everyone gets the bug and wants more of everything they see....marketing at it's best$$$$....what ever happened to just having fun in the woods with some friends?....bring back good old fashioned paintball....

Agreed Godfather also most of the manufactures have a back door sales or e bay set up under a different name and we as field owners and retailers have to sell at map. If people would realize that rec ball and woods ball scenario ball fits everybody and sales in that area are consistent it would get a lot more attention besides it's the sport dad can play with little johnny with little or no training.
