SPPL Announces 2008 Season with More Teams, More Prizes, More Events
For Immediate Release
SPPL Announces 2008 Season with More Teams, More Prizes, More Events The SPPL enters the 2008 season with three new Qualifier events, larger prize packages, and more players than ever before ready to experience the heart-stopping action of the world’s premier scenario tournament league. The SPPL will make nine stops across the country, from Southern California to Northeastern Pennsylvania, for its Qualifier events. The SPPL ends the season in October with its tenth event, the Grand Finals, where the best of the best compete for the title of woodsball champions. The SPPL has accepted nothing less than the best in selecting its newest host fields: high-profile venues renowned for their top-notch customer service and family-friendly atmospheres. CPX Sports in Joliet, Illinois, BearClaw Paintball in Fayetteville, Tennessee, and EMR Paintball in New Milford, Pennsylvania all join the SPPL family in 2008. After selling out four out of six Qualifiers last year, the league has increased the number of teams per tournament, as well, capping all events at 24 teams. In addition, several new sponsors have made contributions to the prize package, which now totals close to $15,000. Once again, winning teams will be featured in a future version of Greg Hastings’ Tournament Paintball. We’ll announce more details about these exciting enhancements to the league over the next few months. The 2008 season promises more media coverage for SPPL participants, too, as RECON, the Magazine of Woods Paintball, has signed on to become the official publication of the SPPL. Qualifier Wrap-ups will be included in every quarterly issue of RECON along with full page photos. Additionally, an official SPPL photographer will be onsite at every tournament to capture teams in living color. “We’re so excited about the start of the new SPPL season,” says league President Jayson Nielson. “We wanted to announce our schedule right away so teams could start planning. With a bigger prize package, more Qualifier events, and more media coverage, plus our continued emphasis on good sportsmanship, every serious woodsball team is going to want to compete in the 2008 SPPL.” Stay tuned for more exciting announcements from the SPPL, too, including the introduction of multiple divisions, player cards, and an affiliate program, which will put SPPL “feeder tournaments” at fields across the country.
