Vengeance Paintball Distributors is pleased to announce that its Southeastern Xtreme Paintball League (SXPL) will be adding a five player component to its 2006 events.

"We've just gotten way too many requests from teams and sponsors not to offer five man ball" said Steve Davidson, VP Sales & Marketing.

SXPL will conduct 7 player NPPL style events on Saturdays and then host a special 5 player series on Sundays. The 5 player event will not be an ordinary competition - it will be a skins game. The lion's share of each team's entry fee will be put into a pot for the team and half of that pot will be up for grabs every game.

"We don't expect this to take anything away from our 7 player events. SXPL is an NPPL Feeder Series and supporting 7 player ball is one of its primary goals. In order to make this work for everyone, we'll be offering a seriously discounted entry fee to teams that play the 7 man NPPL event and then stay on to compete in the five player. The five player is going to be a real 'put your money where your mouth is' test of a team's metal. Real money will be on the line every single game."

Entry for the five player will be $350 per team, with $200.00 of that going into the team's pot. SXPL is also exploring legal ways to allow sponsors to participate directly in the outcome of each game, as well as allowing 'Las Vegas Nights' style side-betting to take place amongst the spectators.

7 Player teams that compete the day before will only have to put up their $200.00 for the pot - there will be no additional entry fee for those teams.

This will be an excellent opportunity for the teams to get together and help answer the question - which format produces the better teams?

SXPL will be hosting three events in 2006:

October 7th & 8th at Adventure Beach Paintball in North Carolina
November 25th & 26th at Adventure Beach Paintball in North Carolina
December 16th & 17th at Central Florida Paintball in Florida

The 7 Player event is limited to 54 teams and will host division 1, 2 and 3 games; prizes are cash payouts, paintballs, airballs fields, softgoods, air systems and markers and a $1000.00 sportsmanship award. These events will take place on 10/7, 11/25 and 12/16. BYOP. Entry is $750, $850 and $1000

The 5 Player event is limited to 54 teams and will host divisions 1 through 5. Cash payouts based on team performance, trophies and product prizes. These events will take place on 10/8, 11/26 and 12/17. BYOP. Entry for teams that participated in the 7 Player event is $200.00 Entry for teams only playing in the 5 player is $350.00

SXPL is dedicated to hosting professional and fair events, free from industry politics and will be hosting PRO referee training clinics between now and its events. "SXPL is logo blind" said Steve Davidson. "We don't care what paint you shoot or what company sticker is on your hopper - we want the winners to win and the losers to lose on an open playing field and will do everything necessary to insure that that is the case." Rocky Cagnoni will head up the rules commission. Players wishing to attend a clinic should contact VPD.
