Tank Capture

Why can't we have a rule to capture a tank in a scenario game where it changes sides in the game? Capture the tank keep the crew add a new gunner with his own paint and let the peices fall where they may. After all if this was war what could you do with an enamy tank?

Because there are no independant tanks, most of them are parts of teams and you cant really force someone to play against their friends.

Maybe if you have the team captains wear badges and your team can capture them, then you control the teams tank. I know that most of us will not surender so it will be a moot point, but if we work on the details it could make for an interesting twist.

Hahhahha, maybe I could capture your high end paintball gun and give you my old tippmann 98...

Remember the 'this _______ is not a toy' warning? The tanks are not as easy to operate as it may seem. We have let guest drivers run the BUg in play and they all exit sweaty and beat, remarking that it's not near as easy as it seems.

For our tanks very little is stock. Driving 'em involves some training and watching some goober drive off in a vehicle I just spent a 500 hrs and 3 grand building ain't gonna happen. Even the gun systems, imbedded air systems, and handling characteristics could pose a hazard to novice operators. Think of a tank as a high customized gun.. the tankers personal gun.

That said I have played scenarios where the Tanks worked as mercs and their time was bought by the hour with gold or other props acquired during game play. Especially if there's only one tank at the game. But the owners drove them.

Read what i said the tank crew that owns it operates it but you install a player to command or direct the actions of the tank not to operate it I understand your veiw of time to build it and money involed I own 2 of them and they are a _itch to build. And installed player supplys the paint all you are out is a ride across the field and air.

I think this would just cause way more problems then its worth and eventually lead to banning of tanks. or people would just not want to bring their tanks at all. i know teams that have 30+ people at a 200 person scenario u tank the and the team comes too, thats a very unbalanced game. and whose to say people would not plan that to make a game easier to win. 2 allied teams go on apposing sides. one side captures the others team and tank and that side dominates the game. there is just too many flaws with this idea

Not a likely scenario in the real world either. If you average build costs and gas it costs an extra $300 per game to bring a tank. I'm playing with the team. I've have enough bad tank games without being finders keepers field tank beotch.

Now if anyone is serious about getting tank fever wants to ride gunner I'll spread the love but they're gonna be shooting at the other side while they ride.

I could envision a scenario where one tank is some secret weapon and there's a race to find/solve/seige something to get use of it but that's gonna be settled way in advance with the producer and probably use a field owner tank.

At Risk, BearClaw last summer, we were the only tank on the field. We were hired by one of the 4 teams. It was a blast switching from side to side. Probably the most fun I've had tanking.
