I was wrong. I was actually amazed at the final score. I figured with all the kills Blue Max and Werewolf got on us we would have single handily lost it for the US side. Blue Max had 14 tank kills by him self, and I think eight of them were on my ride.

Any time Capitol Offense is generally one side, I will always lay my money on them winning. Well, I would have lost money on this one, but hey, no one is perfect.

The tanks will be color marked next go round. This is the first time we had anything but our two or three tanks on the field. Now we have two tanks, and APC, my Ghetto Recon car (thanks for not laughing), and then the gentleman that brought his eight wheeler out. His was very effective except his turret not working (turning) but it didnt seem to hamper his ability to blast us. That gentleman is a true gun fighter. He set twice daring us to come in bounds. I chose not too... My anti tank capabilities were limited to say the least.

I will pass the suggestions on to the Ferg.

[Post taken from Rogue Cell Forum]

The Field: This was personally my first time at CDP, although Rogue Cell has represented there before. Man, this field was great, even though it about killed me. Running away from tanks was great going downhill, running away from tanks going uphill sucked big time. The terrain was perfect. I couldn't have asked for more variety. I think every terrain combination possible was utilized.

The Admin: I was impressed with the amount of refs for such a large game. They seemed to be just about everywhere you looked and they had a good grasp on all the frantic action. The facilities were good and the lines moved rather quickly for such a large turnout. There was a slight bit of confusion on camp sites when we first arrived Friday night, but it got sorted quickly. Maybe a little more signage would be helpful, since the signs at the front gate said "Vietnamese to the right" and "Americans to the left". Somehow, some Americans went to the right and did not want to move, which created a small amount of pandemonium. Otherwise, awesome job guys and we look forward to playing at your field for Guadalcanal and Fulda Gap.

The Game: I have never played a game against tanks and let me tell you, it was crazy. There's nothing quite like seeing a gun buggy tear-ass over the hill chasing off twenty guys. They truly were beasts to be reckoned with, despite some fierce RPG resistance. I feel the game progressed smoothly, had clear-cut objectives and great communication between the field staff and players on what was expected and what was accomplished. A lot of that I attribute to the excellent command-and-control demonstrated by Capitol Offense.

Props & Costumes: Even though it was a good idea to wear the costumes, I feel that our performance (and most definitely our comfort) was hampered during the game. With the exception of a few decorative props (i.e. paddy hats, the flag, etc) in the staging area, I think we'll stick with the team uniform from now on. As for the props, having the indirect fire options hidden across the field for lucky commanders was ingenious.

Awards: Rogue Cell won Most Valuable Team for the Vietnamese forces, even though the Americans squeaked out a victory. The MVT team was a definite tribute to the rest of the guys on my team. I thank you for all your hard work and support, Rogue Cell. To Capitol Offense, Shadow Group, Shadow Company, Section 8, Roadkill, Recon-1, MAD, Wolf Creek, and the rest of the teams I have forgotten, awesome job and it was a pleasure playing with or against you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game, despite being boiled alive in the sun and losing mask-visibility halfway through the game. I recieved real positive vibes from the rest of the other teams and players (for the most part) and everyone seemed to have great fun. The sportsmanship levels were unusally high as well. Kudos to all the players involved.

I think I will definitely be making this an annual event for Rogue Cell.

I too enjoyed the game! I won't go into too much detail, but the field was fun, had great variety, and was very hilly! The creek was one of my favorite features.

I don't like tanks that much. We didn't have too many LAW rockets, and it sort of slowed down the game in the big open field. I personally enjoyed the woods where the tanks couldn't get to. Also, I thought it was a bit silly to ask people not to shoot the tanks. If you blackout a window with paint, that makes it harder for them to shoot back. So install some wipers.

The reffing was terrific! Very large field, but I think they did the best they could! And sportsmanship was, on the whole, very good. One incident was at the beginning of the game, when me and a buddy were shot in the back by our own team. We even had tape on the back of our masks. He was a real jerk about it, but other than that, I enjoyed the teams we played with. Congrats to Rogue Cell for earning MVT!

I never exactly understood how the points were scored. I didn't understand what the fireworks were supposed to mean. I guess that's a little bit of my fault, as I never asked, but I wasn't ever told either. I think some more concrete missions would have been nice.

Overall, I enjoyed Command Decisions, and will be back to play another scenario sometime in the future!

The Battle of the Iron Beasts

A Historical Scenario Game

Saturday, May 12, 2007

This game is in honor of Armed Forces Day, and as a special honor to those who served in the Vietnam Conflict. The forces of the United States will include an element of the US Army 1st Battalion, 69th Armor based out of Fire Base Rex (Ben Het). In addition, there will be a team of Detachment A-101, 5th Special Forces Group and CIDG Montagnard Rangers based out of Fort Apache (Lang Vei). The opposing forces will include elements of the North Vietnamese 24th Infantry Regiments, supported by the 202nd Armored Regiment based out of the North (of course) and a team of Vietcong who may be just about anywhere.

“The date: early evening of 3 March 1969. The place: a far-flung Special Forces camp near Ben Het, South Vietnam, perched in the rugged mountains of the Central Highlands, and overlooking entrances from the Ho Chi Minh Trail in the Laos-Cambodia-Vietnam border area. Until the end of 1973, North Vietnamese armor appeared on or-near the battlefields of South Vietnam on only four recorded occasions. The first instance was at Lang Vei Special Forces Camp near Khe Sanh in the I Corps area on 6-7 February 1968. Here, a North Vietnamese combined arms attack with PT76 tanks succeeded in breaking through the camp's defensive positions. At Ben Het, North Vietnamese tanks and other forces attacked the joint US and Vietnamese defenses dug into the barren hills of the camp. This engagement, although brief, marked the first time since the Korean Conflict, 16 years before, that an American armor unit had decisively engaged enemy tanks.”

The object of the scenario is to capture and maintain control of territory at specified points during the day, as well as successfully completing missions issued by the command for both sides. There will be special “non-playing” guest generals for both sides; however leadership positions are available for the above mentioned major units. Please call CD Paintball for details if you are interested in leading troops. There are perks!

The Battle of the Iron Beasts
A Historical Scenario Game Won By the Americans

As Special Forces Commander from Shadow Group, It was an honor to play against such a well developed teams. It with special courage and hard effort
that the game was played from both sides.

On be haft of Shadow Group Paintball Team I personally want to say. How proud we are to play such a great group of comrades.

The sheer determination that the American side fought, it just goes to show that anything can happen. When fair play and honor is committed to, great things can happen.

Its a great day and winning this tournament make us proud to be apart of this paintball league.

as it being my first game at CDP i would like to first say this is one of the best feild ive played at... its HUGE, hilly, open areas, forts, trailers, thick woods, EVERYTHING!!! if you havent been to this feild yet you have to make it out there b/c it is truly amazing.
The refs did an excelent job and i had no complaints all day as i saw absolutly no bird doging and they did paintchecks as called
to all the players that attended, it was an honor to play with and against you and i was truly worn down by the end of the day
