ion problems

My ion is acting wierd. I bought ape board it worked fine till my the end of my first big game. And then my gun seemed to not be shooting enough air it would just barely push a pb into barrel just enough for it to jam the barrel.

I tried just semi mode and it still did this. Now the gun is only firing with it at low pressure of like 140 with stock board, havn't put ape board back in again yet. checked battery, switched eyes, checked phnematics switch regulator.

When i put Ape board in it just shuts down when i pull the trigger with eyes off? I thought it was ape board but it seems it might not be.?

Setup: 05 ion ape/stock board ,warrior bolt, ans laser eyes, med drop, 70/45 tank

any help appreciated

BigB: Try replacing the battery. Ion's eat 9volt battery's. If the Ape board is shutting down as soon as you turn it on that's probably the problem.

Did you adjust the dwell for the Ape board, if you didn't do this, it's a must.
The dwell needs to be adjusted any time you add upgrades. Like Bolts, QEV's etc.

The internals have to be cleaned and lubed often, of it will not preform efficiently.
Here is a tech sight I recommend:

Yes I concur if you haven't broken than Ion down in a while, it needs to be. If you don't feel compedant enough to, then take it to a paintball pro shop. By all means if you do decide to read the manual. Be sure to use the proper lubricant.
One upgrade I feel is necessary over the other's is a SP 360 QEV quick exhaust valve it keeps trash out of the solenoid. Normal exhaust travels back thru the solenoid, the quick exaust valve stops this and increases the Rate of Recharge other wise know as the rate of fire.
The banjo fittings are very delicate and only need to be snug because they all have "O" rings on them, over tightening will break off the threads.

I have an ion with rampage board and i can tell you it is awsome. And as rod said break it down and give it a good cleaning ot makes all the difference, i also suggest a L7 bolt from TecT it's a must have for the ion

ok i am not a gun tech by far but here is what i have done. i have change the battery with the Ape board in the marker the board would light up i shut of the eyes and pull trigger on time bolt goes forward usually stays forward and the i look down and board is shut off.

So i checked all things i thought could be air related. I believe there are no leaks that are heard or noticed. Also i have checked reg and lubed. checked o ring and blot and lubed. also blew through banjo to check for blockage. still same problem occured. The bolt would also seem to not go far enough forward. and only push ball into chanmber. also seemed to only shot at like 140psi? 160psi seemed to not even work.

Put stock board in and had same problems. i am thinking it has to be something air related or phnematic. i havn't set dwell before but i will try this. although the gun worked fine with these settings for first couple uses with new parts?

I'm having trouble following the symptoms between boards, but if the marker acts the same wey with either board installed, your problem would seem to be pneumatic. Do you have another regulator you could swap in to try?

My Epiphany did that to me when I first got it. Had to change the dwell in it.
upgrades were L7 and QEV. Board was stock.

Change tank clean air system the problem is you are not getting enough air volume to the solinoid no matter which board you are using. I have installed about 100 rampages in ions and have never had to adjust the dwell to get it to shoot, and with both boards doing it , problem could be in asa or regulator, but i feel it is an air volume problem iin the supply end and nothing to do with dwel do to the fact it's with both boards.

There is a PITA (Pain-in-the-ASS) o-ring in the breach section to the rear of the feed hole that is VERY aggravating to change, XX. You should have gotten one with the little plastic bag full of junk that came with the gun. I'm not at the shop right now, so I can't say the exact size. It is green. Change it. But before you do that, just for S&G, make sure the bolt guide isn't in backwards...
