SP-8 v A5

Currently I am using an A5 with a Flatline barrel as my main gun. I am looking at the SP-8 as it is a nice gun. My son already has one and it is one gun I would replace my A5 with. Only issue I have is what barrel should I look at to give me accuracy with the range I am used to with the A5 flatline? I know there is a tradeoff of Range and Accuracy. Do I look at the Apex barrel? Or just go with something like a Stiff!, Boomstick, Freak, or J&J Ceramic for the improved accuracy?

Thanks.

Take a look at the Custom Products One-piece barrels...I use one on my Ego and it's a tack driver...I use a Stiffi on my A1, and it's the same way. The boomers and freaks are great barrels too, but a touch more expensive than the CP stuff.

Personally, I wouldn't give my A-5 up for an SP-8. There is nothing wrong with the SP-8, I just prefer the rugged reliability of my A-5 with RT. I've heard mixed results from the Apex barrel, but I saw a couple of players do some pretty cool things with theirs this weekend at the MPP/Command Decisions game. I've never used one, so I won't say much about it. I have several teammates that use Stiffis and love them, so I don't think you can go wrong there.

i'd never give up my A5 for an SP-8 and i had both. but if you have decided that this is hands down, final answer what you are doing... i'd give the apex a shot.

I have an SP-8 and wouldn't trade it for an A5. There's no real equivalent for the Flatline; you'll need an Apex and a barrel adapter to mount it. I don't use an Apex on mine; I prefer to get into medium range and apply the "golden BB" theory. Either get a barrel kit and match paint size to barrel bore size, or just get one good quality barrel and be happy. The stock SP8 barrel is pretty nice, though I run a 16" J&J Ceramic when I feel like it.

Death by Daddy got the long barrel that smartparts makes extra for the sp-8 and it seems to be very good and extremely quiet.

QFMFT... its just an ion people. LOL... to each his own.

the A5 is infinitely more upgradeable, rediculously reliable, and it runs off CO2 or N2, doesn't require an aftermarket hopper, although there are a variety of customized hoppers.

to answer your question, i have a flatline for my A5 as well as the $10 autococker thread adapter... meaning i can use any of my cocker threaded barrels on it. i used to run hammerhead, and i have run sly once, but now i run a Kaner Kit... and its a nail driver.

my A5 is my work horse and i love it.
