We enjoyed having you, Country! Come back anytime!

We started out wanting to enforce a 6bps rule but it was obvious that too many players had too much invested in Ions and Angels and all those other spray guns to give them up. Attendance to this event probably would have been half of what we had if we had stuck to that rule. It's a huge pity too. If the spray-and-prayers would give up their techno-toys they would learn what the REAL thrill of paintball is. Both pumps and woodsball is making a comeback in paintball as more and more players are learning that spraying paint in a small arena isn't really much of a challenge.

I have stated in other places that I have an issue with an arbitrarily low bps limit on electro markers only. Several mechanical markers (cockers, RT'd Tippies, RT's mags, X-valve'd mags) can achieve a rater of fire in the 12-18 bps range without difficulty and yet no one is stating, "We should cap them". I agree that substituting firepower for skill is not a good thing. However, when you combine firepower with skill, you take paintball to a whole new level.

Nix, I wasn't trying to imply that ANYONE from the little girls quit, as a matter of fact you guys were the ones that I kept seeing on the field, and I think anyone who has played with or against you guys knows that you guys are not going to give up...what I was saying is that once the refs/thumper saw that it was unevenly matched (after the first two objectives) they tried to do a few things to even it up, and they should be commended for their efforts. my last post was not to beat my chest, or talk crap about how we won, it was more to say that the teams were unbalanced, but the refs tried to fix that when they realized it! Although I did the math, and 600 points we earned were just because the missions were general led. , I know Inerwolf wasn't feeling so hot so I can understand, I'm simply trying to point out that roughly a quarter of the difference in points was simply Ace doing what he does..
as far as the next scenario, I have nothing but respect for the little girls, and would love a chance to play on the same team with you crazy guys!! I can only speak for me but i thought that gun ship was a pain in the butt, and I know we were pushed back from objectives time and time again as it came through, it was especially effective at no mans, and the tower! Well EVERYONE I enjoyed it, and I enjoyed Fri. night, hope to see everyone out at TT soon for a good day of rec ball!! Last edited by sneakysnake; 06-25-2006 at 01:14 PM. |

I had a blast at this scenario, and I wish the score would have been a little closer, 'cause then more people on the VC would have had a better time too. But I saw some things out there that clearly made me think, "What are the VC doing??" Here they are:
1) I rarely saw the VC venture much farther than Antietem, their starting area. From the first mission near Tam Ky, where there was very little opposition, the tone was set. We had little resistance there, we went to No Man's land (Hue City), and I personally never saw a VC go past the road (I was on the side furtherest from the Tower). They were in Antietem, and never made it further. Also, I only saw one person come close to the Yard base, and that was Patches. He snuck up on three of us, unarmed, in the base, and we talked for a while. He said something there that sort of said it all, "Ya'll are attacking our base, and nobody else has the guts to come over to yall's, so I thought I would do the same to yall." (It was basically like that) 2) I was at many missions where little or no opposition came. These include Quinon at 11:30 (don't blame the VC, it was right at our respawn), Cu Lao (graveyard) at 4:30 (will come back to this later), and twice at Hue city. One time at Hue, there were about three VC there, we ran them away quickly with about 15-20 Yard/USSF, and then they sent a tank in there that annoyed us a bit until it was taken out. Cu Lao was a bit of a breather for us, as it was getting hot and tiring. The VC sent I think 4 guys at us, but we were sitting (literally) strong at about 10-15 guys. It was at this same time that there was a mission being run at Phnom Penh, right in Antietem and real close to the VC base. The Yards/USSF ended up winning that one, which was a real shocker to me. Also, there were things that made me go, "The USSF/Yards have it together. Here they are... 1) Ace was everywhere. I followed Ace around most of the day because he was the USSF General, and I was on USSF. I didn't go around with Spook much, as he wasn't my leader, though I did see him many places. Ace being at missions was good for many reasons, including extra points and leadership right where the action was. 2) Everyone respected each other. When someone had an idea, people would listen to them and not ctriticize them. I had lots of things going through my mind, and when I spoke people twice my age listened to me as well as those my same age. This was the case when anyone spoke. I tagged along with Carolina Riot, JAPS, and random groups of people, and everyone worked together nicely getting those flanking positions and running . No hostility at all. Now take what I have to say as just my observations, and of course I could have had a completely different day than say anyone on the VC side, or someone on my side as well. I'll post what I think about overshooting somewhere else on this forum. |

Guys I have been on the recieving end of scores like that. I think Aerion was right, the scenario teams on the USSF side just clicked. We worked really well together. But the next time Carolina Riot goes out to play we are just as likely to recieve a butt whooping. It has happened before and will happen again.
I saw some bad behavior on both sides. The worst thing I think that can happen on a field is people not calling themselves out when they are hit. It just leads to lots more problems. The people doing the shooting tend to get frustrated and overshoot, in order to make sure the person calls themselves out. The people on the recieving end, especially the honorable players who would call themselves out when hit the first time, get upset about the overshooting. Neither side is right in that situation. I saw instances of overshooting and not calling yourself out on both sides. I have seen it in every game of paintball I have ever played. I thought the refs did a really good job on paint checks, but the simple fact is in a scenario game there cannot be enough refs to check everything. I think both sides for the most part played with honor, there were some incidents but for the most part I thought they were pretty minor. As far as the electro gun thing is concerned, I guess we as carolina riot get a little defensive when the issue comes up. Alot of the team owns them, but most of the people on the team who own them have played paintball for more than 5 years. We have owned 98 customs, phantoms, spyders, and cockers, that is what we learned to play with. If you limited the field bps speed to 6 bps then I would still go out on the field with my angel set to 6 bps. I like my angel, I like the accuracy and air effeciency. The electro guns are here to stay in scenario, with the inexpensive markers like the ion, wrath, pro-master and others more and more people are going to be shooting them. But we as players need to teach the new players what is the right way to play and the wrong way to play. If you play the wrong way it doesn't matter what you shoot. I also think the overshooting thing may come from the fact that sometimes for various reasons one individual player on the opposition comes to the attention of a large part of the team. We had several times yesterday when a single VC would pop up and shoot at a group of USSF players, well the entire group of players turned and shot at that single person. The result being a large volume of paint headed towards that single player. I am not sure there is a remedy for that. But all in all we had a great time, Jack Ass Paintballers were some stand up paintballers to play with. Little Girls you guys were stand up too, I know the frustration you went through yesterday. Don't let it get to you though, becasue like I said ealier, we all go through days like that.

, nothing wrong with it, just when you've got 50v50 mission on No-Mans-Land, your gona get shot...a lot. It's part of the game, yes, but if you teach a player from his first game "1 shot is all you need if it's clear, and at the most 3" then they'll probably stick with it. Anywho, sounded like a lot of fun, wish i could have gone ![]() edit: scrappy?? an asset to the sport??!! rofl. |

word, I had a lot of fun... This was my/pirates(big green shirts) first scenario and we got to meet some pretty cool guys... I had a pretty dull outlook on scenario ball, but it was pretty fun. I only wished the teams had been a bit more even. oh well. I was the short guy shooting the silver/chrome dm3 btw.
