Thumbs down NFL going to shit!

I realize the NFL package has been around a long time and most folks I know who purchase it, purchase it to watch their team every week. Anyway, I can remember last year they (NFL) put several games on the NFL network that were literally blacked out from my cable company (Knology) even though I have the NFL channel.

Knology refused to pay the increase because they refused to raise our rates. It appears comcast is moving this to the paid package so I'm guessing they are trying to avoid monthly increases.

So I get this bullshit today:

The NFL is going to shit in a hand basket.. I bet in the next couple years it will be completely Pay-Per-View...

I will cease to be a fan!

Well... we do have to support a bunch of un-educated kids who cannot spell salary much less comprehend the value of a dollar. So, this is a sign of things to come, I'm sure. I would say that college football is better, however, with recent events regarding Reggie Bush, I can almost guarantee that most of the top schools in the nation have found ways to "pay" their athletes without calling it "payment". As it is now, most schools have forsaken the idea of institution for higher learning and focused on the gathering of athletes. We breed people who focus on the dollar as the means to all ends (look at the rise of "reality" television over the past decade.) rather than good sportsmanship, competition for the enjoyment of competition, and education.

What this means is that, eventually, every team will have a T.O. clone that demands higher pay with less effort, thinking that football is an individual sport, and as such, it will have to go to pay-per-view only to support the "athlete's" steriod, drug, and excessive living habits...

Paying college football players has been a regular thing for major colleges for decades. Time Warner did away with the NFL channel last year because of the higher prices. The only thing I can honestly say I missed was the draft coverage.

I don't get much time to watch football with my schedule. Lucky if I'm home on Monday nite. If ESPN wants to charge for MNF I'm sol. Guess we're spoiled. I remember when we only got to see maybe one or 2 games on a Sunday. As for college football, it used to be the same. I live in a different market area for my favorite team now and rarely get to see any coverage other than sportscenter. Go figure

Paying college players....huh......did you know that a student athlete cannot evlen get a free meal from anyone associated with the athletic program. I am a die hard ALABAMA fan and we are constantly on probation for bull crap stuff (well some of it is straight up illegal). There is really no way to police it becasue there is a way around everything but I think that some of it is way overboard. I know of one student that was put on probation becasue he accepted a ride to a job interview with a guy on the alumni board.

We use to get "paid" in high school football. We got free meals after the games, discounts at stores, and a few other things.....One time after a win from a big game a local lawyer took all of us fishing on a deep sea charter boat and paid for everything. According to college regulations we were getting paid....

For every infraction that is caught there are hundreds that slip through the cracks. Does anyone remember the SMU Pony Express? Erik Dickerson actually stated in an interview that he took a pay cut to join the NFL. And before anyone reminds me that SMU got the death penalty, I know that and I also know that it was not related to any of the Pony Express. Somehow they managed to all be from lower class families and still had matching black Trans Ams. Hmmmmm.....

I stopped watching NFL/NBA/MLB DECADES ago and not long after stopped watching college sports too. IMHO not worth the time. If I need my fix of sports I go play a sport myself [paintball] or go support the local high school events, and now that is getting effected by greed and politics just like all the other venues.

I do enjoy MLB games, but the little league world series is much more entertaining.

GO PHILLIES

And coaching little league puts both to shame.

As for football, I much prefer watching College football.
