Manning severely injured his ankle in a preseason scrimmage with the Chargers Friday

In a scrimmage with the San Diego Chargers Thursday, Manning's right tackle Ryan Diem was pancaked back onto Manning. On the play, manning's body was twisted up under Diem, a 300 pound lineman. X-Rays revealed several large fractures in Manning's right ankle. Trainers estimate that Manning will miss a large chunk of the season at the least and might not make it back at all, depending on how quickly the fractures heal.

Fantasy Analysis: Manning's value obviously decreases dramatically as he might not even take a snap in the 2006 season. He is still worth a pick in the last round as a quarterback for the fantasy playoffs, but don't expect him to be very sharp when he returns. He should be avoided at all costs in any round other than the 14th.
