Out for Fun

Thumper, Grendel,

Can I put it any better way?
I have played outlaw for years and this may be what it takes to get me and mine onto the "real" field!
Hopefully I will be there will a full complement of "new" players.

once you try scenario ball

once you try scenario ball, paintball will neveb be the same.

Try it with a dozen of your best buddies - and I guarantee you will have the time of your life.

ps: read the "rec player tips - the stages of paintball" on www.triggertyme.com and let me know what you think from your outlaw pespective. Im curious.

Outlaw Paint

Grendel,
as stated before, we are probably MORE safety aware than most, that coming from THE Safety Nazi of the group.
We have a lot of kids that show up occasionally. I try to keep a supply of elbow pads for the ones who show up with out a cup. "You're gonna protect you eyes but let your nads get shot?" Given the chance, I talk to their parents before-hand and highly suggest their purchasing and WEARING a cup for play.
15 foot rule states that you call the guy/girl out and light them up only, and I sat again, ONLY if an aggressive movement is made by the unfortunate. Mask stays on if you're on the field during a game. We don't require that you leave but the mask stays on.
Don't put your barrel plug in and you WIll end up getting shot again. I speak from experience after I lost mine!

Thumper,
If you are talking about the "newbie tips", I didn't find "rec tips". The six stages sound about right. I have always thought/KNOWN that the equipment does not make the player.
I think I have avoided the speedball stage. Always sounded like a quick way to spend a lot of money.
I/we have avoided field play for a few reasons you mentioned.
1. A@@holes.
2. Some kid with a heavy finger and daddy's checkbook.
I have heard wat too many stories about people getting angy and letting everybody share in it. I play to vent aggression in a "healthy" way. Anger has nothing to do with healthy venting.

It makes me happy to hear safety is important to you. I've attended some Outlaw games that there is no thought of safety and some that are very stringent. You can never be too safe.

A Hand held radar chronograph might be a good investment for you. The industry standard for safety is a paintball marker should be shooting 300 fps (feet per second) or less. This is the velocity that the goggles are based on and causes the least amount of "damage" to your person but still have good range and accuracy. Most fields limit it even further to <285 fps for 3 consecutive shots. I have seen Spyders right out of the box shooting over 400 fps. If you have never chronographed your guns getting one of these would be great. Also I've never known a field that will not allow Outlaw Players come to field to use their chronograph to check their guns for free. If a player gets seriously hurt playing paintball now matter where they play it hurts the sport so most fields have a vested interest in everyone playing safe.

P.S. As far as equipment goes. I run a 5-6 year old Tipp 98 w/ a expantion chamber and remote, w/ a Smart Parts 14" All American barrell.
A RADAR pump, alot like a hammer but older I think,
and a Sidekick MOD that I have almost never used.

Unknown,

Wow, I know of one guy who uses a cup….. I will not mention any names. This is great news that there are unsung heroes of the sport in the wild trying to teach the right way to play. BZ to you Unknown person, it will be good to see you guys/gals at the scenario.
